Is any one here interested in the green party, or what do you think of the green party?

I always vote green here in Belgium.
Not because I agree with their environmentalist programme (I think they are too conservative in this respect) but because I agree with their political and social programme (embracing multicultural society, tolerance, dealing with practical issues rather than fear and ideologies, anti-capitalist, anti-war, etc).

I started voting green for many of the same reasons you did, one of the other things I like about the green party is that they don’t take money from corporations.

I've only voted for them by default. The others scare with how utterly stupid they can be.
They ain't the best, but they certainly ain't the worst. I found "family first" party to be bottom of the barrel scum.
Unless I start my own party, which isn't going to happen in a hurry, I've vote for them sure, but there's no way I'm putting my name to their membership. Signing up to any political party is like signing your soul away.

What I meant by the green party's environmentalist strategy being conservative is very simple. They seem to want us all to drive bikes or horse and carriage. First of all I don't think that's realistic and second it's dumb. Humans can be very smart. I'm sure they can come up with an environmentally-friendly source of energy that would allow us to fly to work superfast jets etcetera. I for one wouldn't mind some more serious research into nuclear energy (at least then we wouldn't need to hassle the Arabs all the time for oil).

We cant use nuclear energy for this kind of thing. The other liberal commies dont want us too, they dont want us building any new reactors either. Apparently we are to survive on wind and solar power for ALL needs even though they are hopelessly inadequate.

One of the great advantages to clean energy (solar, wind, biodiesel, est.,) is the very fact that on one or even two of them could ever replace oil. The advantage being that all of our eggs wouldn’t be in one basket, if any one source was ever interrupted due to war or natural disaster, decreased oil supply due to China and India increases their oil use, it wouldn’t be a complete lost. It’s a good investment strategy, I believe it’s all so a good survival strategy too.

Yes well back in reality, we have to realize that even if you put ALL of your alternate fuel sources together and expanded them 100 fold they would still be lack luster and hopelessly behind oil energy. Thats not to say that they are bad, theyre not... but theyre not going to produce as much energy as oil does. Think about it... a gallon of gasolene can power a 3 ton truck up a hill. The output of energy in oil is insanely powerful which is what our entire lives are built around. Trying to change just the fuel source would be a joke and not work. Theres 2 options.

1. mass death. Just start killing off humans down to about 500 million world wide and then control birth rates forever. A very communist pro green party idea if i may say so.

2. Fuck it, make moeny while you can and stock up before the party ends.. When it does end, be prepared to live like its the 1700s again.

If there was any viability in alternate fuels to replace oil or to even be equal with oil dont you think some fucking venture capitalists would be all over that shit? Especially in America where everyones scared shitless of the boogie man /Global warming. If some guy came out anjd sai dI have all the answers and this will replace oil within 20 eyars and be just as effective if not better, dont you think every jagoff on the block would want in on that action? Believe it or not, the EVIL OIL COMPANIES BOOOOOOOOOOO do NOT control all the right etc to that technology while they greedily horde it up. Thats liberal silly talk. The fact is that Oil is quite simply the ebst source of fuel on the earth so far as we know. Pretending we can exchange it is like saying you can power your house with a bunch of onions and potatos soaking in vinegar with electrodes stuck in them.

I'm sorry... how exactly is that a conservative standpoint? It sounds more like an off-the-wall, idiotic, Amish, pseudo-hippie standpoint to me. In fact, it sounds the exact opposite of the very definition of conservative.

I all ready use wind energy for all my electricity. We had an investor who wanted to build a solar farm in the state I live in, he offered to pay for it out of his pocket, it would have generated 5 times the current energy demand, but Excel decided it would be better to build an other coal plant and raise our energy prices for the next 60 years.

I love the 1700s dueling would be legal again I don’t think the green party would think of the 1700s as ideal the similarities between the left and right still existed.

But I think that all of these words have slightly different meanings in the USA and in Europe. As if the communication wasn't difficult enough already.

And I was exaggerating for effect anyway. The point being that I disagree with the Green Party's often negative attitude towards invention and technology.
