9/11 Chair Hamilton Slams Media Distortions
Vice Chairman of the 9/11 Commission Lee Hamilton blasted the mainstream press yesterday for distorting the Commission's findings on links between Iraq and al-Qaida, saying those findings actually support Bush administration contentions. "The sharp differences that the press has drawn [between the White House and the Commission] are not that apparent to me," Hamilton told the Associated Press, a day after insisting that his probe uncovered "all kinds" of connections between Osama bin Laden's terror network and Iraq.
Hamilton's comments followed a deluge of mainstream reports falsely claiming that the 9/11 Commission had discredited the Bush administration's claim of longstanding links between Baghdad and bin Laden.
But the Indiana Democrat said the press accounts were flat-out wrong.
"There are all kinds of ties," he told PBS's "The News Hour" late Wednesday, in comments that establishment journalists have refused to report.
"There are all kinds of connections. And it may very well have been that Osama bin Laden or some of his lieutenants met at some time with Saddam Hussein's lieutenants."
Hamilton said that while his probe had failed to uncover any direct operational link between Baghdad and Osama bin Laden's terror network in attacks on the U.S., there's no question that "they had contacts." http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2...18/92642.shtml
Read it and weep Democrats! Bush has been proven right again, no matter how you try and lie about it.

SEPTEMBER 11th COMMISSION VICE-CHAIR LEE H. HAMILTON (D-IN): "I must say I have trouble understanding the flap over this [Al Qaeda ties to Iraq]. The Vice-President is saying, I think, that there were connections between Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein's government. We don't disagree with that, so it seems to me the sharp differences that the press has drawn -- the media has drawn are not that apparent to me." (Lee H. Hamilton As Quoted On Fox News' "Special Report," 6/17/04) To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. | |

Diffrent source, same good news for America! No Disagreement, Says Lee
Friday, June 18, 2004
By Brit Hume As you heard earlier, 9/11 commission co-chairman Lee Hamilton, a Democrat, said today there is no disagreement between the commission and the administration over links between Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein. But most news organizations last night said the commission's conclusion that there was no -- "collaborative relationship" between the two ... was evidence the administration deliberately misled the public.
CBS Evening News said the commission -- "directly contradicted one of President Bush's justifications for going to war against Iraq." ABC said the report -- "unequivocally" disputed the Bush administration's claims of an Al-Qaeda-Iraq link. And NBC reported that -- "the Commission is sharply at odds with what leading members of the administration continue to claim."
A front-page headline in today's New York Times reads -- "Panel finds no Qaeda-Iraq Tie," and the Washington Post says -- "Al Qaeda-Hussein Link is Dismissed." But commission members said today there were links, just not a working relationship and no evidence of any Iraqi involvement in September 11. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,123065,00.html Bush proven right all along! How was Bush proven right?
He believes there are links between Iraq and, of course, the AQ.
However thus far there are no credible links between the two, aside from links that existed 10-15 years ago, and even some of those dealt with Saddam/Iraq being against the AQ or it's opinions/plans.
Thus any links between the AQ and Iraq would be akin to links between the AQ and America. (\ /)

Sorry, but the report says that there are credible links, as Fox News, WND, and now USA Today are now reporting.
It's over.

Examples of how people have been stating things correctly, rather than saying no ties whatsoever existed: A staff report released by the national inquiry commission said there was no "credible evidence" Iraq had helped al-Qaeda to attack the United States and no sign of any "collaborative relationship." http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...h_040617212856 But it said Iraq never responded to the al Qaeda overtures and concluded that "they do not appear to have resulted in a collaborative relationship."
It added, "Two senior bin Laden associates adamantly denied that any ties existed between al Qaeda and Iraq. We have no credible evidence that Iraq and al Qaeda cooperated on attacks against the United States." http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...ush_qaeda_dc_3
Thank you and good night! (\ /)

Sorry, but those were merely witness quotes. I have the head of the Commission (a Democrat) saying Bush was right.

Can you please point that out?
You can't? Oh...too bad.
The fact is that if Bush says something as generalized and broad as "there were links between the AQ and Saddam" it will always hold true, since being in the Middle East their paths would've therein crossed one another.
However America has had links to the AQ(Not all of which have been good), and even to the Taliban, plus many other organizations and so on and so forth.
Guilt by Association is a nifty logical fallacy. I recommend you check it out
And by the way, what's your point here? Are you trying to say that there was at least some form of a link between the AQ and Saddam? If so then the statement that there are links between America and the AQ is also true. (\ /)

You haven't proven Iraq supported terrorism.
This thread isn't about if Iraq supported it or not.
This thread is about how the head of the committee and many committee members are saying that some of the news are blowing what they said out of proportion.
Also your "proof" thing up there was from the Newsmax article. Due to the lack of honesty and integrity anything done by Newsmax is therein considered incorrect or invalid. For any reasons as to why I redirect you to the Newsmax thread that was done by..I think by Sir. (\ /)

| The truths hurts, doesn't it?
I also quoted Fox and USA Today saying the same thing.

Enboldened by yourself up there: But commission members said today there were links, just not a working relationship and no evidence of any Iraqi involvement in September 11.
That's what it's all about. The news, or rather some of the news, blew it out of proportion. The committee then attempted to point out how that wasn't what they had said per se, but rather something akin to it.
