do some programs use wordpad for some tasks?

because if i use msn messenger...and i open a chat window it is all messed up....and i cant close it....unless i use end task when i press ctr alt del...

also when i open word pad it gives the message "failed to creat empty document"

my whole microsoft office stuffed up when i had nimda.... but i got rid of it....but office still doesnt work properly...

so msn messenger doesnt run because office doesnt??
and...is there a way of fixing it without having to reinstall office....

If a virus fucked up your computer, best thing to do is reinstall everything that doesn't run as it should.
