My laptop automatically did the Win XP update so I installed it as normal as it's supposed to be an upgrade, but lo and behold it is a complete piece of wank

After installing my laptop would keep crashing and giving me blue screens of death and automatically turned off my machine!!! After awhile I realised it was because my little optical mouse was plugged in via the UBS port. After unplugging this my Win XP would load as normal and run but kept giving me an Windows Error pop-up, and then just run as normal, but then if I went to plug in my mouse it just blue screen'd me and turned off again.

So thinking it was my mouse I went out and bought a cheap but decent non-driver optical mouse, but hey this did the same again!!!

So fuck it, I did a system restore and put my machine back the way it was. Why do Windows feel the need to update shit and in the process fuck everything up!!!

Myself, I did 2 clean installs with a Win XP SP2 CD and I haven't heared any problems with em.

Well luckily my main model's BF actually works for Uncle Bill and is in the group spearheading the release of the Service Pack 2 upgrade, so when I see him later he's gonna get a shitload of questions...

I'm a Mandrake 10 user myself, but I also enjoy RH9 SuSE 9.2, and Fedora,
oh, and Iodine, most people dont notice a difference with SP2, but the ones who do have some SERIOUS problems.

Linux isn't scary, it's just too much power for some people, give it 1 dedicated week and you'll be able to do just about anything with linux that you can do with WindoZs,
except Flash Design, at least until F4L is released!

Bottom Line: Linux + KDE + Qt3 + Nmap + F4L + Wine = My perfect system!

Oh, I've NEVER EVER had a Linux box crash, no matter what I did (playing around as root doesn't count)...

Now that I have had time to play with SP2 ............ If it is being installed on a fresh install of XP, nothing else on the PC yet, go for it. If you are wanting to put it on a pc that is currently in use with lots of software on it (especially file swapping software) don't bother with it, its not worth the headaches.

Mandrake..any version of it. Or Feudora...or Red Hat...they are alike.
