| Win98 and the Mini Cruzer USB Key -
10-26-04
Hiya there,
I got this Mini Cruzer USB Key, 256MB to transfer files between my PC at the office and the one at home.
Doesn't work at the office. We're still using Windows 98 SE. Downloaded the latest driver directly from Sandisk and followed instructions.
- Right after running the installation driver, I reboot my PC
- Once it has restarted I plug in the Mini Cruzer in a USB port
- Windows reacts, says Installing Unknown Device, then recognizes it and says Installing Mini Cruzer and...
- BLUE SCREEN (dum dum duuum) and crash...
I tried another USB port.
I uninstalled the software, restarted and reinstalled it again
I downloaded the latest ROM upgrade for my BIOS and installed it
I downloaded a UHCP upgrade from MS for Win98SE and installed it.
I used ANOTHER machine with Windows 98 in which I know USB works, since it has a printer attached to it that works fine.
I still get the same effect!!!
The thing works fine on WinXP, but can't get it to work in 98. It seems to be detected correctly, why am I getting a blue screen? (well obviously, cuz there's something wrong - duh)
So, any ideas? Comments? Solutions particularly, would be greatly appreciated. Ideas and comments too. Jokes at my expense, well... ok but just this time. If you want to send me money I wouldn't mind also. |
