Mainboards are not the problem anymore... Programming needs to be tweaked for HTT... And that is something that few programmers care for.

Not with the new AMD line of CPU's (which will have 2 completely seperate cores instead of allowing the ALU's and FPU's to be adressed simultaneously).

maybe just a series went bad?

It sucks with SDRam, and you need to stick thermal paste between the chipset cooling sink and the northbridge... after that it can OC with DDR DRam pretty well.
