Ok, I have been trying to figure this out for the past few months and well I am at a point I don't know where to go next. I am running a AMD64 system, with a gig of RAM, a 256 meg vid card and well if need be I can list all the specs. Now here's the problem, when I try to run games like. F.E.A.R, Unreal 2, Army Operations... I get a total system lockup. Now, I have changed the video card as I have seen that happen many times in the past to be the cause. Having done that and still have the same issues I don't really know what to do next. Any ideas would be helpful.

update your video card drivers. I was having this issue in WoW. What is your exact video card? I had the Nvidia GeForce 5200 and it was pure crap.

XFX GeForce 6600 256MB with the newest Nvidia drivers. Updated the drivers yesterday when i installed the card.

PCI Express. i will only use Nvidia bro till A.T.I produces Linux drivers

yup, i no longer think it's vid card problems. i find it odd how some games work, but others just crash. doom3, battlefield 2...all work fine, but yet a number of others cause full system lockup.

i rolled back my nvidia drivers and it fixed my problems. sometimes they fuck up new drivers so i roll back and it usually fixes them. i'm only using a 256mb 5600 ( on my sempron64 3100+ w 1GB ddr400) but i found after rolling back the drivers i got better results than with the newest. also if you can, up the AGP aperture size in the bios a little. that sped up my gfx a bit. dunno if it will help you though.
