I have been asked to look for the mainboard drivers for a PC Chip L741LMRT-H. he needs them to supposedly load the drivers to enable the onboard sound device. anyone have any ideas, and i have already searched some sites for it, and alas nothing has come

And I know why. The 741 is an operational amplifier, most likely used to boost the analog audio signal. Since it is a totally analog device, it does not need drivers. You need drivers for the chip behind it, the D/A converter. Most likely an AC'97 codec...

Ask your friend what type (or brand) of mainboard he/she is using. The type and brand is generally printed on top of the mainboard somewhere. Check at the corners, and between the slots (PCI/ISA, where the video/sound/modem cards go in).

As soon as I have a mainboard type, drivers should be found within the minute...

Aeturnus, that is what they said the motherboard was. thats what got me. i tried to explain some stuff to him well that my XP system tried to us the onboard sound device when i loaded it till i turned it off in the bios. he even went to sa far as to say that it onve worked but, the put in another sound card and disabled it...
