I didnt want to post a thread cuz its not that important but how do you erase you document history? I share a pc and some of my documents are not for the eyes of others. I have Windows ME.

You will need to delete the links that are created when you open a document. There's a program called TweakUI that can do this automatically...

What surprises me is that you don't simply use another account for yourself... ppl should not be able to see your documents then.

I don't know how to make/get one *looks sheepish*

If you have access to Control Panel you should be able to see a "users" button.
You can make a new user there..

is ME able to sit on NTFS? If not then there really is no complete way to secure your documents unless you encrypt them. As far as i know ME isn't much better for security then 98

there are programs on the net you can use to encrypt documents... if you do a search in google for encrypting software, you'll find a number of programs that will do it. just be sure to look for something that does either 1328 bit encryption, or 1028

... and be brandished a terrorist for using them. Encryption like that is outlawed for non-federal use under the DMCA...

that should have said 128 bit encryption, and that is legal in north america. as far as i know not many countries in thew world have outlawed 1028 bit encryption as it is used in some firewalls. if i remember correctly, smoothwall firewall uses 1028 encryption hence it hasn't been hacked as of yet. If she lives in North America, getting 128 bit encryption program is fairly easy as there are many out there that work well.

Xp isn't a bd system to use as i have been using it for over a year now, well ok i haven't been usuing it but it is on my system. better then 98 and can be more secure then 98. Have the drive formatted in NTFS and you should be all set for security settings.
