representing one of these evil bundle units and a solemn vow to not own a desktop that is not custome i am curious which company you've had the most issues with?


*on the opposite spectrum is there a laptop that you've had smashing success with...(something with kick ass word processing, easy networking capability and windows xp would be perfect)and reasonable priced would be nice too

My vote goes to Compaq. Machines are okay. But the servicelevel I saw at both my school and interim assignment were appalling...

they all suck ass, stay away from name brand PC's period!

Brand pc's have one advantage: Their price.

Not so. Selfbuilt PC's have the price advantage. That is, if you know where to get your components cheaply.

And that is the whole point, you have to search A LOT to find the cheapest prices. Overall brand pc's are cheaper and the guarranty and bonuses are far mor greater. Not that I support them, infact I prefer custom based. I am just stating the flat facts here.

Heh, I don't need to search at all. I have a site where dutch computer enthousiasts (like me) add prices of various companies, for an accurate comparison. Companies add those prices themselves too, for when lowest at that site (www.tweakers.net) they are guaranteed to get a lot of extra customers...

or just have a computer junkie brother in law that gets it all for under seven hundred...

I have found that HP/Compaq, Gateway and Emachine are horrible machines. On the opposite side of the spectrum are Apple and Dell. They have great support and great products, both have even won great awards. All of the above machines I have worked on and yeah, they are what I say they are
