| Another Problem With The Damn PC -
02-05-06
I just got a new Nikon D70s camera and everytime I plug the usb plug into the computer it resets then resets again going to a menu screen with a bunch of options, like safe mode, start the pc from when it was working correctly and some other stuff. Pretty much the same screen it took me when I had that 'system failed computer' problem.
I had also tried the card reader with the same result, so I know its not the camera. I tried unplugging another usb port thinking I had too much plugged in but it did the same thing. I'm about to toss this machine out of the window then go Office Space on its ass.
My bro had his friend build it for us, so i'm wondering if things could be connected incorrectly...i don't know but i'm pissed cause I can't upload my photos.

So when you unplugged the other USB item, did you plug the camera into that slot, or the same one as you did the first time? Beware the ex's.. They ARE out to get you... I tried both ways...I tried the two usb ports in front and when I removed the one in the back, I plugged it in its place. I don't get it... With cameras, you need to plug the USB cab;e in andturn the camera on, assuming its fine with the connection, it should detect the new hardware and begin a snall installation process.
Usually Windows XP has the drives and software pre-installed so you only have to plug it in and play, but with some camera's seperate drivers need to be installed to allow the camera to talk to your PC proparly.
This kind of thing is never usually a problem especially if your camrea is fairly new.
Are you running XP? Did your camera come with setup drivers? To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Hmmm, you could try and confuse windows.. Oh, and yeah, what version of windows you running??
{To confuse windows} Turn the comp off, plug in the camera, and then turn puter back on. See if it recognizes the camera that way. *shrugs* it's an old school thought. Beware the ex's.. Are you running XP? Did your camera come with setup drivers? | i plugged it in when the camera was on, plugged it in when it was off. I installed the drivers and yes i'm using XP. The thing is i dont understand is why is it only doing it with the card reader and the usb wire for the camera. Quote: |

Tried what you said...didn't load up all the way before restarting... | And the instructions from the camera said to just plug it in and go? I would suggest, at this point, to goto the camera's website and find out if anyone else has had this problem. Hell, or email them from there and ask why! Beware the ex's.. They ARE out to get you... They never emailed me back but I found out its definately my computer. I tried it out on my cousins and it works fine.
My cousin thinks theres something wrong with the motherboard. I was planning on getting a new computer but I guess I'll just have to accelerate the process. Well, You could open her up and make sure none of the connections are loose. And clean out any dust bunnies that are trying to make a home in there.
And, as always, make sure that all the power is disconnected before opening up the case. Beware the ex's.. They ARE out to get you... Nice guys finish last It isn't just a saying.. It's a fact of life! Those things that produced your ex......you know, the bitchmakers! Metagion
