No one ever talks music anymore. Some of us try to post relevant things, but they get like one reply, and people go right back to telling us what song they're playing. If truth be known, nobody gives a fuck what song you're listening to; you're just typing for the sake of a) letting us know how "cool" your taste is, or b) increasing your post count. It requires no thought and no discussion.

I vote that we get rid of that damn thread, and actually start using our brains.

Even though I do post in that thread, I agree that there is a whole lot of potential for conversations that may be detoured because of it.The only conversaton I see there is when people post something that others like that would ofen lead to comments like : HELL YEAHH!!! This shit gets me pumped up!! or FUCK yeah!! I love this shit,too!!

I mean... if people said what they were listening to, and then actually TALKED about what they were listening to, then that's one thing. But, if I just type:

what does that tell us about the music? Absolutely nothing. It's a reflection of jack shit.

I post in that thread, and also post in other music forum threads....I don't really give a fuck about post count...and those who do won't have trouble finding other threads for increasing their count.... if you get rid of it , someone will just start a new one anyway....so yeah, I vote to keep it...

Im gonna go towards the direction of "What are you listening to,and why?" There,not only do we let others know what we're listening to,but why we like it so much.Inspiration,artists,which album its from.etc.The possibilities are endless,and if a conversation sparks up,then they can create a thread in the music forum,and transfer there.Whoo,we got the music forum back!

although i frequently post there, i think i (and a relative few others) actually try to make talk......i try to spark some conversation about music.....but to no avail.....

i think the sole reason i post there is just to kill the boredom......

but, for the most part, this music section as a whole is a lil' disappointing.....

instead of getting rid of the thread, why not just drop the sticky, since it's on top, or just move it to the playground...and then replace it with some sort of musical discussion thread with a sticky...

it would also be better if someone posted something about a band/song and they weren't flamed incessently. if you disagree with someone's tastes, then fine, but mass amounts of flaming is ridiculous and ALSO tedious to read and reflects (antihero)'s number 1 and 2 things (being cool and post count)..

i'm glad that a lot of you people here listen to far out obscure-dark-morbid "the world doesn't understand me" music and whatever.... a lot of stuff i don't know but once i give it a listen, i still don't trash it (incessently)...

if i say i like The Beatles, well good for fucking me. if sixxx says he likes GWAR, good for fucking him.

i think the people on this site need to learn how to disagree with other people's tastes without killing the motivation to post here. the Music section seems to be the only section on this board that suffers in this way. Mainly cause it's so easy to say someone utterly sucks cause they listen to some lame country artist or Avril Lavigne.

I vehemently HATE Avril Lavigne, but even if my g/f started to listen to that snooty pop bitch, I wouldn't condemn her. If one of my bandmates started listening to her, I wouldn't kick him from the band. I'd seperate myself from what I don't like about their tastes and work with what I can with what I DO like about them.

In other words, the failure of the Music section is more than that lame "what are you listening to?" thread. It's that people here are so fucking proud of who they are for some god awful reason. You're all not that cool, just so you know. You're just a dick or a cunt like the rest of us in this world. You're NOT cool by association to this or that band. You're cool because you can fucking respect certain differences in this world and still maintain who you choose to be.
