I happen to like Tool alot actually The only thing that 'till this day makes no sense to me is how people often relate Tool and APC. I don't think they sound alike at all but oh well :p

Tool is the band Maynard was in, when he started the pet project of A Perfect Circle; I've read an interview with him, and he likened Tool to a masculine expression and APC as a feminine expression. Sounds correct.

I read that APC wasn't a pet project. It originally started out with Billy and Paz I believe and he joined later. So he didn't start APC. He does write the lyrics for it though.
not a big fan of APC, got the album, felt a little jilted afterwards. As for Tool, ymm good. The band, as a whole, is to me probably one of the more original bands out there. It's wrenching and thrashing while at the same time it mellows me out.
love em both. the lyrics of apc touched me more at the time probably because they're so religious. you know when you come across an album at exactly the right time in your life to think, yes, yes that's exactly how i'd describe that, and that. tool is more spirit, although not all of it is. am i making sense?
I like Tool alot..I got the new Lateralus the first day it came out... I dont like it that much..but still Tool still kicks

(Noun)
Generally known as the creature that hearalds the arrival of the beast (From book of revalations)
In an effort to control more people, the christian church decreed that an antichrist is actually someone who rejects God, and does not follow the teachings of Jesus. This creates the impression that if you reject God, you are hearalding the beast, and the end of the world. This is enough to persuade some people to worship
but i know god is dead
i've stolen his house

i am a tool fan but i was very disappointed in their last cd lateralus.
Hehe... something interesting about Lateralus I noticed recently. My father disliked the song Aenima because of the constant use of "fuck," because he thinks it's for effect only (no, really?).
The album Lateralus has one "curse word" which is identical to the only curse word on Black Sabbath's debut album. Bastards.
Personally, I love the lyrics on the album; fave songs on it are The Grudge, Parabol/Parabola, and Lateralus, title song.
what you have to realize about tool is they really reinvent themselves with each album they do and truthfully, i think which ever album you hear from them first will be your favorite because that's the "tool" sound you're used to. I don't like Lateralus as much as the others, but it's still really listenable,
although i think their best album was AEnema, in fact hooker with w/a penis is my favorite song of theirs...
and as for their lack of curse words...i think it's just the way that their evolving, because truthfully, i think the only reason bands use curse words is for sylable filler, emphasis, or they can't think of anything better to say... so i guess maybe this is just them growing up?
