Well put. One thing I've noticed is that people really have a hard time noticing Slipknot's true unoriginality; once you strip away the masks and coveralls, you have nothing more than another typical nu-metal band. The sound has been there since KoRn started in 1993 (or even earlier, as some may argue), but because of Slipknot's visuals, it's something "new and exciting." If you closed your eyes and just listened, would you think differently?
I suppose that Slipknot is good for what they're trying to be. If they're trying to be innovative, however, then I retract my previous statement.
