"Do you know where you are?
You are at the Door to Dreams. To Black Miracles and Dark Wonders -
Another Life of Unknown Pleasures...
And it's yours - Complete the pattern. Solve the Puzzle. Turn the Key..." Pinhead, Hellraiser III
Thought Floodlands was THE best Sisters album then Vision Thing....things started to go a bit hit and miss after that in my humble opinion.
Eldritch f*cked up when he told all the goths that went to see the sisters at a festival to f*ck off....not a clever mover seeing as tho most of the audience were goths at one point or another.
FotN = class
Bauhaus = superb
Japan = atmospheric tho not strictly goth I know
Cure = love em
Mission = in the right mood
Spear of Destiny = as above
Violent Femmes = first had a tape that a Kiwi mate of mine did for me - love their stuff
Hey I remember Zodiac too - what was the song where the video involved a tank driving thro a convent dorm wall.....classy stuff
I'm also in the UK - not so good but at least it's the home of goth music

Originally posted by Vashti Floodland was their only good album. The rest is butt rock.
Spoken like someone with true musical tunnelvision. A band decides to put a little more guitar and balls into their music, and suddenly it turns into 'buttrock'. I've heard that whitewash term applied to everything from Poison to Metallica, to Oingo fucking Boingo, which just goes to show that people who throw that term about don't know what their talking about.
What about 'First, Last, and Always'? That came before 'Floodland', and though it wasn't quite as polished as the aforementioned album, had a few gems on it.

Yep. I love those guys. The reference I was refering to in my previous post was a guy I met who was a big fan of Danny Elfwood's movie scores. I asked whether he was into Oingo Boingo and he said 'who'? I was flabbergasted. So at next available opportunity I let him listen to a tape of theirs. He grimaced and went "Oh, they're buttrock." He's dead now, but you can't pin anything on me and they'll never find the body...

I dont understand how someone can say they like SoM and then call all of their stuff after Floodlands "Buttrock". Obviously someone doesnt know their music very well. Buttrock is Anthrax, not SoM!
nothing means anything, but something means nothing to no one
They are great. My favourite song from them is In the Temple Of Love.
I want to live in a world of peace
Without conflict, like the one I’ve seen in my dreams.
I just can’t keep it inside
I’ve gotta say what I wanna say
Your face doesn’t show your fighting pose.
