Does anyone here like them? Does anyone here other than me and the resident scandanavians listen to music from our own little frozen corner of the world?

But i digress. My favourite band is nightwish. I absolutly love their sexy female component in the band and their damn good.

Most of you will have no idea what im talking about o just go look for some free dowloads of nightwish songs and tell me what you think. Granted none of you will know what their saying but are there people who listen to Rammstein only because they speak german? NO! or as we say Ei! You listen for the music so tell me what you think.

Oh and lets recommend some good scandanavian bands so i can add to my collection... and no ABBA!

Umm... Nightwish's lyrics are in English, aren't day? Most of them? Granted, without the lyrics in front of you it's very hard to understand what Tarja's singing, especially on Wishmaster... (but then again, nobody understands a single word of most Death and Black bands either...)

Try Century Child. It's a heck of a lot easier to catch the lyrics there. Besides, it's their best album!


By the way, If you want to be technical... Finland isn't a part of Scandinavia. Scandinavia is Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Norden, on the other hand, contains Finalnd and Icelan as well

Mind you mortis are good.... actually with the eception of ABBA we sca- baltics produce pretty good music dont we.

thier first run albums are in finnish and i have the lot. But then they go into english for the international market.

I wander what the americans would think if they heard tarka singing in finnish.... they'd probably think it was some kind of satanic chant or something

I saw A Swedish group, called, In Flames, open for Soulfly and Slayer about a month ago...and they simply amazed me...sounded a lot like Iron Maiden....

And, of course, there is always King Diamond.

I have Nightwish's "wishmaster" "oceanborn" "angels fall first" "over the hills" ep thing and "Lappi" which my friend brought back from Finnland for me. My favorite cuts are Eramaajarvi, Wanderlust and Gethsemane. Great band. Love the finnish vocals as much as the english.

Im actually begining to suspect that there have been no crap scandanavian bands, except ABBA...

I'll have to argue, Finnlands greatest act is not Mortiis it's Children of Bodom. Mortiis is norwegian anyway, I believe. He DID play bass for emperor.

I now mortis is norwegian its just that i focus more on our side of the border.

I bet we are the only country where the teenie boppers have to slug it out with the death,gothic,punk and thrash metal bands.

Happens here, too. My black metal band shared the stage with a band that sounds jsut like New Found Glory (pop "punk" if you know not who they are).Was even a rap group there.

But im talking bands like nightwish sharing going on our version of top of the pops or MTV and singing live becuase theiur in the charts.

The goths have the power of the music industry over here.... i'd love to see mortis do a concert with the backstreet boys that'd be great... mortis, nightwish and mussgah all togther with britney, back street boys and Nsync... oh yes!

Mortiis would be Norwegian, yes... Not that I've ever heard as much as a note he's sung, but

Phoenix Rizing, however, would be a great Norwegian band. Especially their cover of Aqua's "Roses Are Red"... I don't think I've laughted so much in years.

Worth mentioning that Satyricon actually mingled with the top spots on our top twenty, though... Nightwish peaked at 27 or something... Bah, at least it got up there.

Over here, in the snow, between the imaginary swedes and the russians all we can do, is make superior electronics, good music, babies and of course add to the ever expanding ways of eating and cooking herring 112 last count i think.

I dunno, it'll take a hell of a lot for Sven Goran Erikkson, Ulrika Jonsson and ABBA... I dont think they'll ever get off ABBA.

I'm hopefully going to see Nightwish on Halloween in Helsinki, but i think they maybe going to Oulu or Kemi.. i must find out, any info would be helpful.

I love Nightwish.. her voice is unique, every song of them are great..

I would definately love to see them live, but they aren't planning on going to the states until 2004..

my only chance to see them where when they were about to do a concert in Argentina.. but they canceled the concert due to Tarja's year retirement for her opera practices...
