My girlfriend really likes them and so I'm downloading some of their songs, but I don't know jack about NIN other than closer, head like a hole, and just like you imagined are good songs. So can I get some recomendations for good NIN songs? Thanks.

not a big NIN fan, but here some of my favs that I recommend:
Starfuckers Inc
Perfect Drug
Closer
The Fragile
March of the Pigs
....hmm, those are pretty much their singles, but good songs.
Pretty Hate Machine was my favorite album. Overall I love Trent's work, even his newer stuff, but nothing will beat his first full album. It's beautiful.
How do you prove that you exist ... ? Maybe we don't exist ...
i fuckin' hate trent reznor, but for some reason, i have like 4 NIN albums and several songs on my playlist (go figure).....but all in all, there's an occasional tune i like to listen to.....but, i had some friends that were big NIN freaks, so here's some of what i know
"i'm afraid of americans" - ft. David Bowie....not a bad song, especially if you like Bowie, was a big hit years ago
"dead souls" - is a cover of some older goth song (i don't know who did it originally), i rather like this song, itz from the Crow soundtrack
"gave up" - by far my favorite NIN song, the "VIDEO VERSION" that is, as itz quite different from the album.....guitarist for this song is Marilyn Manson (who truly despise) and um Patrick ? (the singer for Filter)
"happiness in slavery" - pretty nifty song, itz on the Woodstock '94 video.....
"heresy" - cool song, i like the chorus (god is dead, and no one cares, if there's a hell, i'll see you there).....itz on the Doom Generation soundtrack, and since i'm a big Greg Araki fan (director of Doom Generation) i give the song props
"i just want something i can never have" - this was the first NIN song i ever heard, and it made me cry a lot, it had a lot of meaning to me back in the day, and apparently it does to everyone else....itz off of Pretty Hate Machine
"march of the pigs" - not bad, but ultra artsy-fartsy NIN style
"perfect drug" - another big hit from them, off of the Lost Highway Soundtrack....really good song in general
"Wish" - another big song
as for albums and their songs...Pretty Hate Machine is prolly their most popular, and one of their earliest, itz a pretty good album, i used to listen to it like mad, and think i might listen to it here in a few.....The Downward Spiral is another one of their better and popular ones....Wish i think is an album, with the self titled song, "happiness in slavery" and "gave up"
but yeah....there ya go
and tell your girlfriend to quit listenin' to NIN and pick up some Ministry albums

Joy Division..... thats who did Dead Souls originally...
And try Skinny Puppy before Ministry..... it was Nivek who set Al on the right path

We're In This Together
Something I Can Never Have
All That Could Have Been (from the bonus disc on the live album thing of the same name)
Just a few that I don't think were said, though I might've repeated.
Hey, bread is a good time for me...a-woodle-oo-doo, singing bread is a good time for EVERYbody...
