Love em. Trent Rocks my world. :p
"Perfect Drug" is the absolute reining champion of songs from NIN. Those beats were killer, no doubt he had some guidance from Richard D. james of Aphex twin.

Once again my friend, you're musical taste is superb and I couldn't agree with you more.
I do believe that albums such as Broken and Pretty Hate Machine were much better then the newer stuff... It appears to me that Trent is running out of things to say and words to say them with in his later years Our culture aquires a love design. Left naked with nothing but ourselves and contempt for what we are not supposed to be, not supposed to feel, not supposed to see. I will embrace you... We are all beautiful

Naysayers in the industrial community may decry NIN as "sellouts" or "upstarts" or whatever, but over a decade after it's release, classics like Head Like A Hole can still pack a dance floor as tight as most anything by 'officially' cool oldschool industrial bands like Ministry, Puppy or 242 track... Granted, NIN has taken a turn for the silly and often trite, 242 hasn't released anything since Evil Off, and i challenge any rivet head to justify ministry's last two releases as anything but garbage.
However, I think trent is running into the same sort of problem Robert Smith had with Wild Mood Swings, wherein, after doing the angsty depressed thing for so long, you run out of ways to say it, and try something radically different (i.e., something not angsty and depressed) and it turns out well, decent in it's own respect, however, alienating and just generally not up to par. Hopefully Trent will continue to follow Rob's pattern, who after WMS, released the absolutely flooring Bloodflowers.
Don't even get me started on "Deep"... Help Us Make A Difference!

Pretty Hate - fixed - broken were fantastic.....Downward and Further Down....were Trents peek I reckon.
His work with pigface saw him coming out with suck - another classic.
Perfect Drug was such a cool single without being too mainstream and the remixes are as good as any I've heard from NIN.
True the last album offering has some 'not so strong' trax but you can't knock starfukkas and the fragile.
Chances are I'll still buy whatever Trent puts out...I'm kinda sad like that I guess.
As for Ministry - whatever happened after NWO?
Its a love affair.....jesus built my hotrod........yeah fuck it! To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. Without being mainstream? Are you kidding? Next to "Closer" that's the one and only NIN song that most kids can even name... The fact that it came out when the hottest thing on the market was eurotrash drum n bass, and coincidentally featured a prominent drum and bass sound, shows that trent is not "flirting" with the mainstream as he likes to say, rather directly playing to it between his albums. As evidenced in his latest car-wreck of a single, "deep". As for Ministry - whatever happened after NWO?

They released Filth Pig, which sucked... and then they released Dark Side Of The Spoon, which also sucked... and then they were in the movie A.I., and then released a greatest hits album... yeah, Al's running out of ideas.

I have to side with Alliance on this one. When Pretty Hate Machine was released I shelled out 10 bucks for an import CD maxi-single just because it had a remix that wasn't on the domestic version...10 bucks for 1 track...I was nuts for NIN (god, now I sound like a breakfast cereal commercial "I'm koo-koo for Coacoa Puffs!")
I remember snapping up a copy of Filth Pig and rushing home to listen to it. I put it on and sat through the whole damn CD saying "What the fuck is this crap? Is this actually Ministry? Did Al quit and let someone else take over? The next track has to be better than this one..." Then I listened to 'Land of Rape and Honey' to make myself feel better...you know, I think I still have that Filthpig disc around somewhere...I can throw it in a bag with some other old garbage of mine and run down to Hastings tonight and make myself a couple bucks...

my best friend through high school lived by "the code of trent" he used to say so it was absolutly imperitive that i hated nin. now, though, he's moved on to college and i never see him so its ok if our so-called "indivisuality" is comprimised by us enjoying the same music.
im no expert on industrial music like mighty aocm, but i have to agree that it seemed his music seemed to escalate into a less original sound.
it seems like the same phenomon when a sceen is created. the foundation is set with just a skeletal frame and then those associated with that sceen fill in the dirt. its the same that happened to punk in the late 70's. by 81, everyone owned a pair of plaid pants with zippers and a sid lock and chain.
when i look at the perfect drug and head like a hole, they seem somewhat similar though. of course head like a hole doesnt have so much shitty dj dance beat energy, but it has some. take em all, take em all, put our back against a wall and shoot em, toe to toe, watch em fall, come on boys take em all.
