How odd, I'm listening to it right now... yes... *mr.burns impression* God how I love this song... I was surprised when I found it on Napster...

Tool's a great band, and the new song lives up to the standard we've all come to expect from them.

i've heard talk that the new album's songs are all 8+ minutes long. that's great... although that tends to limit how many radio stations will play them.

That's a good thing, in my opinion. When a song gets a lot of play on radio, it seems to cheapen somehow. I dunno. Maybe it's just me. But I find it interesting that ONE song can make a band decline into "pop" status...
(i.e. "Closer" by NIN)

But once again, just my opinion.

i'd say your right, but the purpose of the radio is to get airplay for a band and sell records, regardless of what status it tends to bring them down to (i.e. NIN). generally the radio shy's away from playing too long of a song (when's the last time you heard innagodda-davida played). i know tool's record will do fine without the additional airplay, but you always want to see your favorite band get the credit they deserve.

as a side note though, schism is the #1 requested song in L.A. right now.

As a further point of interest, I would like to state that the most requested song here in Myrtle Beach is Limp Bizkit's "My Way" or whatever. They don't play Tool here. At least, not until 3 or 4 in the morning, when the corporate assholes are in bed with their mistresses and can't hear what's being playes unless they tape their woman's mouth shut with the same duct tape they used on her wrists.....

But hey... whatever.
