Currently my favorite song to play over and over is Ball and Chain by Social Distortion. I've heard that Social D was good, but havent had much experience with them til the local alternative station started playing this song a lot, and I fucking love it, it sums up my feelings on life pretty well at the moment.
Note: Its not my favorite song of all time, that will forever be occupied by Wish You Were Here, its just my favorite of the moment.
So uh... what's yours? | |

hmm, I have two that stand out with me over my life. The first is "Outcast" by Vietnom D.M.S and the other is "This is Hell Were In" by Deicide. both express how i feel most of the time man. The latest one i love to listen to is "Criminal Class" by The Casualties You can look at it as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of human life, or just chalk it up to my being a sick, bloodthirsty monster. Either way, it's all the same.

How can a Deicide song be on the top of your list? Isn't it a little.... harsh?

Racing with death, life in a mess
Time growing shorter with every regret
Efforts subceeding, I'm losing restrain
Insincere promise I've broken again
Nothing can touch me for once I am dead
Exclude the body, the spirit is left
I have no problem in coping with life
It is this world that condemns me to die
THIS IS HELL WE'RE IN
Enduring in pain
IN THIS HELL WE'RE IN
I will not remain
THIS IS HELL WE'RE IN
Forbidden to want
FROM THIS HELL WE'RE IN
I wish to move on
Wrapped in self doubt enmeshed in the brain
Darkest depression succumbing again
Waiting the hour, the string snaps inside
Length of a second to take my own life
So it is promised I do not believe
Anything better than what I have seen
Out of this body, I wait for this day
In this hell were in, entangled in pain
Balance upset into leaning on death
Simplified option to life's little test
Constantly guarding against its attack
Why were we put here to feel its effect
Violent pressure has tired my tries
It is my wish that it's soon that I die
Hanging by threads to the realms of the sane
It is this world that has made me this way
Deicide's lyrics.
thats what i prett much feel on a daily basis man. You can look at it as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of human life, or just chalk it up to my being a sick, bloodthirsty monster. Either way, it's all the same.

Shit.. I periodically go through this "I <3 the 90's" phase, where I play nothing in my winamp except mid-90's alternative.
So, as much as I hate to admit it: Flaming Lips "She Don't Use Jelly" In Memory of the Busby Babes :

I fucking love Tom Waits, I have one of his CDs to fit my various Moods.
Small Change when drinking
Heart Attack and Vine after losing at the Casino
Rain Dogs when I'm driving
Swordfish Trombones when I'm just mellow
and his Early Years best of CD when I'm depressed
I'm sure as I pick up more discs I'll get more moods to put them with

You actually told me about it a year or two ago, and I downloaded it, and yes its kickass. I like Peter Murphy too, though not nearly as much as Tom.
