I know when you think hip hop you thing negative things but there is so much good to it. It's not all bad and there is a lot of good music if one would just take the time to listen. I use to hate other types of music until I opened up my mind and ears and now I listen to all types of music.

FLIP MODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

one of the true principals of hip hop is positivity. the problem is mainstream rap has made gluttony and violence a popular topic to rap about, thus cheapening everything that hip hop stands for. No longer is it about unity, one love and all that, it's capitalist nonsense... the immense riches are no longer shrouded in tales of ghetto wickedry and warfare, as the trend has dropped any imagination and reverted to boring MC's rapping about their record deals and how they've gotten rich off them.
I agree that hip hop is a great thing, and it can be again, unfortunately, much like goth, punk, industrial, and countless other music movements, people tend to emulate the foibles and stereotypes of the scene instead of what it's based on. i'd take public enemy over any of the "soldiers" on no limit or cash money records. Stupid pyramid-scheme rap sales tactics over art. give me a break. Help Us Make A Difference!

Rich, sexually frustrated, juvenile black men dominate pop hip-hop. Sad, isn't it? I like the Boondocks comic strip's take on it. "Without a platinum chain, I'm 75, maybe 80 percent real."
I can't stand rap, but I could respect it. But I don't. Are you really that stupid, or do you act that way to get our sympathy? | |

Flip Mode still rocks, though... When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

Got a big gun, going to show you the size
If you fuck with any of my Flip Mode family ties
Me and my niggas be coming through, stalking you out
Killing off everything and anything you talking about
See you in the club, we be walking you out
Should of thought twice before you went and opened your mouth.

Ooooh that's tough, actually, lemme see, my top ten would definitely be in no real order...
Method Man
DMX
Eminem
Dr. Dre
Snoop Dog
Busta Rhymes
Beastie Boys
Jay Z
Tupac
Ice Cube
However if I had to narrow it down to top five it would be
1) Busta Rhymes
2) Eminem  DMX
4) Ice Cube
5) Jay Z When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

I absolutely love music of any kind, well, that's not true. I love all kinds of music except country. Kinda sucks when you live in Oklahoma too. It's like everyone listens to it but me. Anyway-
Isn't there a difference between hip hop and rap? I thought there was...
Leonore I am a dread to my friends-
those who see me on the street flee from me.
I am forgotten by them as though I were dead;
I have become like broken pottery.
For I hear the slander of many;
there is terror on every side
