I'm sorry man, but every true AIC fan should know asap. Poor Staley. It's too bad. AiC is my favorite band - even a step ahead of White Zombie and TOOL for me. Ask LordLazarus - i mention Alice at least three times a conversation.

I was just listening to Nutshell and I feel so bad, its so sad no one could help him. I feel abit pissed off actually, so many people knew of his problem, you'd think he would of had all the support in the world. But then he couldn't help himself really.

Gonna truly miss him, their music really helped me through some tough times, i'll never forget.

Could carry on writing forever but no words can really express my feelings.

When you've lived some of your life, and buried some of your friends, I hope like hell you gain some fuckin' insight.

Don't worry about it, he doesn't like them because they're not a band full of womanizing assholes in the buisness simply because they wanted money, drugs, and chicks. After all, no one could actually LIKE music. And he's not that young, he's just not been around the music scene. He thinks all rock stars and rock fans are the same.

As for Layne Staley I'm very sorry that he had to die, but who knows, he may have wanted it that way. Maybe not the overdoes thing, but maybe he wanted to go.

Anyway, RIP, Layne.

I agree on his probably wanting to go. He was a tormented soul. My best friend was murdered over something to do with drugs. I hated that she left the world so brutally, but she hated being alive, so she's happier now I would imagine. And hopefully, so is Layne.

I feel that he probably wanted to go because of what I've heard. See, I got the boxset from Darkstorm for X-mass and I read the booklet that came along with it. It seems (surprise?) That Alice in Chains was not grunge and rather resented the label. (Since the only reason it was given to them was because they were from Seattle) They were metal and loved metal. Their original intent was for the band to be speed metal... but yeah. Anyway, recently I was looking up info on a band called Superfix (comprised of two of the ex members of Drain STH and a few other people if anyone caes) and the author of this site said that the new band was industrial.... "Like Rob Zombie and Alice in Chains".... Yeah, I bitched that guy out and got banned from his "offical club".

But my point is, after one bout of stardom based on a mislabeling of genres, do you think he wants to go through it again?

The band has set up a forum on their site http://aliceinchains.net/ for people to express their opinions about Layne's death.

Jerry Cantrell is working on a new album called Degradation Trip and supposed to be due in June.

Did anyone else notice that when Layne Staley was found dead, it was hardly mentioned on any of the music channls or the news? I think MTV2 had a brief segment on the news about it but that's all. Yet when Left Eye of TLC is killed, it's all over the place! When it happened, every music channel (much, MTV, MTV2, VH1) had scrolling words across the bottom of the screen about it. It was also on the front page of the news paper! This just annoyed me so much. Layne was such an incredible musician. I believe he deserves more recognition.
