I remember hearing them around 5 years ago when they first came out, but I haven't listened to them since until now. Coal Chamber kicks ass. "loco" kick ass. So in short:

I hate Coal Chamber more than words can describe. Back when nu-metal was the nu thing on the block, I'd spin their CD due to principle alone; but, the more I listened, the more I realized that it was very badly done. The lyrics are boring (anybody who would steal lyrics from the Bloodhound Gang's "Fire Water Burn" and put it to a hardcore riff is in dire need of inspiration), the guitars are sloppy and unimaginitive, the drums are average and frequently lose focus, and the melodies reek of two-to-three-chord banality. The only member I really liked was Rayna (due to her cuteness), but she left the band. But, to each, his own

I went to see Coal Chamber a number of years ago, before they were signed to RoadRunner. They were playing at a small local club here in Knoxville. I have bought all their albums since, and I agree with AntiHero on the part that they are in dire need of inspiration, and the guitars are definitely sloppy. I am so sick of all these bands being signed, when all they do is tune in Drop D and lay one finger on the fret board. Eh, not too talented. Anyway, Coal Chamber's Dark Days is the WORST album that I have heard in a long time. Dez never really could write, but he has exceeded the ultimate shittiness. The only good thing I can say about the band is they have a really good song.. Bradley from their debut. But I really wouldn't recommend the new album.

duuuuude, antihero?? I like Coal Chamber. Sway, Loco, Big Truck, Amir of theDesert, i think they sound unique, though it may not be the most expertly done or thought out, musically, lyrically, i love the sound. And Amir of the Desert, is kind of sentimental..... dont ask.

Coal Chamber is pretty good. Has anyone heard their new song Fiend? They're starting to sound more like they did on their first album. It's a good thing. It sucks that Rayna left the band though...she was pretty hot.

Agreed. It is literally the worst album I've heard in at least 2 years. I'd pick Godsmack's latest over CC's, and I hate Godsmack more than I hate Cher.

Bah, I like em, and this coming from one of the pickest people about his music . I agree, I was listening to the new album this morning and lyrically it needs alot of work, but I remember listening to them when they were still unknown and buying their crappy self produced demos so i guess it just kinda sticks with me. I think you always dig one of the first bands you really like. I'm still head over heels for the cure
