Query...
Are there any classical music fans here? It is common to assume that human progress affects everyone- that even the dullest man, in these bright days, knows more than any man of, say, the Eighteenth Century, and is far more civilized. This assumption is quite erroneous...The great masses of men, even in this inspired republic, are precisely where the mob was at the dawn of history. They are ignorant, they are dishonest, they are cowardly, they are ignoble. They know little if anything that is worth knowing, and there is not the slightest sign of a natural desire among them to increase their knowledge. | |

That he was. Anyone like the cossaks? Beethoven IS my MASTER!!!!
*kneels before little bust of her earthly master and muse*
Sorry but he really is. Though if I am pushed to name others it would have to be Bach( for the violin pieces and Concerto in F major (harp)), and of course the great piano god himself(or at least to me) Rachmaninov.

Might be a bit cliche, but I'm still far and away a fan of his Ninth Symphony. I love to have that on when I'm doing some serious writing. Two of my other favorite symphonies are Mendelsohn's 3rd and 4th.

My favorite is Shostakovich ( his Fifth, of course) and Gustav Malher. Actually i am a big classical fan! my favorites include... Brahms, Motzart, Beethoven, Wagner, lizst, among many others, i also play the violin so its a big part of my life, its ashame how alot of youth these days neglect its importance. Make it sweeter than the sun, I get too tight I come undone,
I bow my head to confess,
The Temple halls are made of Flesh,
runs up my arms till im on track,
itches my skin right off my back,
I'll heal your wounds,
I'll set you free,

Mars? I have a stong affinity for Holst myself. He wrote a lot of suites and scores from wind ensemble. Question for anyone who can answer----
Please name some good Harp solo or concerto pieces for me. I have quite a few already but since I am a harp-a-holic I an forever looking for more pieces to add to my collection.
Thanks

I don't know much in the way of classical harp music, but would you be interested in Celtic harp? If so, I suggest anything by Patrick Ball. I have some of his CDs and have seen him in concert three times. He's a great harp player and a wonderful storyteller. A true bard in every sense of the word.

I love the slow, intensive build in the music. It speaks of everything a god of war would be to me. Strong, confident, eager for battle and the thrill of victory. I always feel a particular affinity for music that can paint a picture using emotion as the medium and imagination as its canvas.
