I usually don't get to much into chick rock, but do like good music. Some chick rock is really great. Some is just awful. I have just kind of rediscovered Ani Difranco. The "dilate" album is just amazing. She really out does anybody else for clever lyrics, and musical originality. Which is really funny, because she writes pretty basic songs. Its just maybe her dynamics that carry them so well. She can really tell a story, rather than croone a poem. Does anybody else like Ani, or do I have to stand alone? Shes worth it though.

i LOVE ani.... i have hardly heard of anyone else liking her tho....but i live in a small town and most ppl my age here listen to the raideo......unfortunatly i have only a few of her songs on the computer and that is it...

Ani is awesome her lyrics are basic but she really says something when she sings. My sister got me into her, but I'll admit at first I didn't really like her much...I realized though that I did really like her after I listened for awhile and now I'm a junkie.

try Portishead, the vocalist has this wicked grrl factor tuned just right...
