You can look at it as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of human life, or just chalk it up to my being a sick, bloodthirsty monster. Either way, it's all the same.

I would read his old stuff. He was more inventive then. His later stuff appears to copy the earlier ones, and he seems to like writing about writers as main characters.
I haven't read any of his new ones yet, but i've read about ten or twleve of them. He is a really good writer. He was the one to influence me into becoming a writer. I loved the imagination and enthusiasm he has. Some i recommend: Christine, Misery, Salem's Lot

I love Stephen King and own almost all of his books(I'm missing about 5 or so). Definitely go for his older stuff. The Stand, Tommyknockers, Eyes of the Dragon, Cujo, Thinner, good stuff. But some of his newer ones are good too, like Desperation, Insomnia, and Bag of Bones.

I own a alotof his books myself, just could never bring myself to read many. Guess my biggest problem was trying to read his stories after reading Clive Barker
