i made a thread here before, but only a few people seemed to know the book....well, after owning it for a year, i finally got around to reading it.....AND MY GOD!

my brain hurt......you can only take readin' sumtin' upside down, sideways, in a mirror, backwards, and jumpin' pages, not too mention deciphering the letters at the end (where you were directed to take the first letter of each word to form a message; for example: tangerines hate igloos, sorrowfully betraying orange orangutans, killing innocent somebody's, never underestimating the someone = T-H-I-S...B-O-O-K...I-S...N-U-T-S.............only you had to do it for 3 pages, and the book is fuckin' huge!!!!)

anywho....goddamn the book hurt my brain, but it was fuckin' fun as shit to read......some parts got annoying, but overall, it was definately interesting and everyone should read it at least once.......the story itself was pretty cool, even if it was 2 stories entertwined, simultaneously, s'posedly written (POV wise) from 2 people, tellin' 2 different stories at the same time which just so happen to coincide, but not entirely.......

i can see now why it took the author 10 yrs to write it......Mark Z. Danielewski (the brother of singer POE) originally wrote it and handed copies out, posted it online before publishers got a hold of it.....there are 4 total copies/versions of the book.....i have the 2nd edition with the word "house" in blue (except for in the index section for some odd reason...typo?) and lines crossed out and some brail.....i'd like to know someone who has the infamous 3rd edition with blue and red words and s'posedly the word "house" is even printed funny (line wise)........

overall, i liked the story....Zampano's story pertainin' to the house....kinda creepy....

this is by far one of the most ingenious books ever written, and why it may not be a great book when concerning the story as a whole (although it was a pretty good horror story if i may so myself), it is definately not for the ignorant or people who want sumtin' simple to read.......but if you're darin', try this book on for size.......you can read, literally, so many different ways

Heh, I have it, and I'm finally getting around to reading it I have the hardcover version with the word "house" in blue everywhere, too. Rockin'.

I finished the main story arc but I still haven't finished all the little extras yet.

Actually, because of the first time this was posted, I was intrigued. I went out and started searching for it. It's taken me a good year at least to find it for under $10, but I finally picked it up a few weeks ago. Of course now that I own it I'm not reading it Little bits at a time mainly.

Finished reading it. Not bad. The horror is kind of lacking; though it's certainly there. What kind of book is this labled under? Documentery?

You gotta push through the hate to get to the love. Sadly this love didn't deliver in most parts. The parts that got annoying I found myself getting agitated that the story wouldn't go on; though it always does.
