you have poisoned the minds of our youth with your gibbering Ron and pretentious Hermione... your stereptypical charachters show no growth, only flat reactions to immediate issues... why then do i have this undeniable urge to get the new book? she's such a turd. and harry potter sucks. what really gets on my nerves though is that the books are bloody expensive (not that i have ever or would ever ever ever buy one) but are printed on such shit quality paper. I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.

I honestly don't see how anyone over the age of 12 can read those things. I read some of one once and I could feel my braincells committing suicide. It honestly felt like I was reading a movie script. Which, in a way, I was. It's 200 pages of cheesy dialogue and "descriptions" that seemed like little more than stage directions. I tried reading the first book, I could not finish the first chapter. Too juvenile. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Okay, I'll stand up and be the dork. I've enjoyed the books. They aren't Stranger in a Strange Land, but there is an enjoyment to them. What I find amusing is that (and you have to remember i live in the bible belt) a good number of people here think they're evil.
Alright, back to your bashing. As I get older i find that the word quirky gets used less, and the word mad becomes more consistent.

Odd, I think Harry Potter's honestly one of the best series in the history of English fiction. I can think of only a handful of books that I've ever read (a number probably pushing a thousand, at least) that could match the Harry Potter books for quality of writing, character depth, realism of emotion and motivation, and storytelling. It's also almost impossible to find a decent series that increases, rather than decreases, in quality with each subsequent addition as HP does.
Oh, I'm sorry, was that not the cool thing to say? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to "rebel" against the mainstream and say Harry Potter's a piece of crap (I certainly didn't think I'd like the series when I started reading the first book), but it's simply not.
For that matter, I could easily name a dozen "literary masterpieces" that couldn't hold a candle to Rowling's work. Any given page in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" has about five times as much literary merit as all of Bram Stoker's "Dracula" put together.
*points at Dallantra* I am a bigger, a bigger dork than thou! When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.
