people dont read enough these days.
read The DaVinci Code.
brief synopsis: Robert Langdon, an American teacher, and highly sought after lecturer on symbolgy and goddesss iconology become inexplicable wrapped up in the untimely murder (is there any other kind!?) of a Lourve curator in Paris (where else?) with the help of Sophie Neveau (sp?) a parisian cryptologist, they begin a search for the infamous Holy Grail. forget everything u think u know about the grail. heavy in math, iconology, art, and religion, this book was such a good read, ive read it 3 times already.
with characters like an albino monk, Bezu Fache (the head of the french Judicial Police) and Langdon, im sure youll get wrapped up in this book. i had a hell of a time putting it down! youll never see the art of DaVinci the same way again! quit your fucking whining. | |

I read that just recently, wondering what all the hype was about. It is a damn good read. The public response, though, is quite amusing. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

i'm currently reading Angels and Demons, not sureif i will read the other one yet You can look at it as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of human life, or just chalk it up to my being a sick, bloodthirsty monster. Either way, it's all the same.

an explanation of a typical trash novel i got from some site: Quote:
all right, so you're interested in trash. let's start with a piece of trash you've probably heard of. john grisham. take any novel... well... except a time to die, that may or may not have some literary merit. why are his novels trash? (trash isn't necessarily a bad thing, but we have to make the distinction)
they're trash because they're essentially screenplays in novel form. no imagery, no attention to language and its subtleties, no profound character development. in fact, characters in such novels are generally meant to be stereotypical. then they're easier to picture, yes? easier to picture means easier to read, and easier to read means easier to swallow up the plot. and be done with it. these plot-dominated prizes are chips and dip for the brain.
| the da vinci code fills every bit of that criteria, hence my comment. there are folks out there claiming the book as a masterpiece of literature, those people need to read more. it was an enjoyable read. | |

Dan Brown is a putz. Pick up his book Deception Point. It's horrible. Jesus Christ.. he takes trite and cliche to a whole new level. Not to mention everything I've read by him follows the same general plot line. In Memory of the Busby Babes :
