Less Jobs = More Enlistment? - 01-22-04

In this day and age there is very little coming along from the government that even supports creating new jobs. Instead they're concentrating on spending as much money as they can and creating massive deficits and recessions.

Over 2 million jobs have been lost since Bush took office.

However, as one person stated:
Wilson says he peddled drugs as a teenager and fears dead-end jobs could drive him back into that world.

His response to that? Joining the military.

Why would you join the military? Well, you get money, tuition and also a little self-respect if you can handle being humiliated and turned into a killing machine.

So is it a conspiracy? Are they trying to keep the amount of jobs low on purpose so that people will join the military?

I've noticed most jobs are only given to nice people with expensive clothes and females, until I read this I just assumed that it was because nice people with expensive clothes are more likely not to be drug users, and females are pretty, but now that I think about it, it's starting to come together. My answer? Yes I definitely believe the government is trying to force me to enlist, but I wont, not ever, *sells drugs*

Interesting thought and one I haven't come across before. It's especially interesting when you consider that Bill HR 163 (and S 89) will probably be passed in Bush's second term (if, god forbid, he gets it)

Those aged 18-26 could find themselves drafted.

They can tell me I have to be drafted, and I'll tell them they can rot in hell.

I have the wonderful blood disorder wherein if I become wounded I will continually bleed without stopping for longer than is normal. This isn't as severe as the type where they just can't stop bleeding period, but rather one where it takes a while longer for clotting to begin.

On top of that I'm completely against killing people..and since that'd go against my moral/ethical code I could say no and not do it, and if they tried to force me I'd take them to court and prove how unconstitutional it is wherein they're forcing people to do things without their permission, even if it goes against religion(Freedom of Religion) or anything else.

Yup..

i heard, but haven't confirmed that Bush has actually made it so if your already in the military, you can't get out even if your enlistment term has expired..
I believe that there is a clause in the enlistment contract you sign when joining that says something to the effect:
If this contract would normally expire during time of war, you enlistment may be continued without notice by presdential order.

or something like that.. But thats the effect.. and he's doing it if i heard(again, i haven't confirmed it) correctly..

Beware the ex's.. They ARE out to get you...

Nice guys finish last
It isn't just a saying.. It's a fact of life!

Those things that produced your ex......you know, the bitchmakers! Metagion

A news article about the soldiers in Iraq had about how Bush is keeping them there longer than what their contract is supposed to allot for.
AND he's sending more people over there...
Yeah...

it's a fact...in time of war or national emergency, your enlistment is extended indefinately. You have to receive orders to get out...such orders are not issued at those times.

Pain is Nature's way of saying "At least your still alive!"

That which does not kill us hurts like hell.

Where to begin. As of right now I am in the US Air Force, and by no means am i a trained killing machine, I think people get the wrong idea about the us military. Lifes not perfect but it sure beats living on the street or in my parents basement. Yes, there is a military clause stating that if you are in a time of war your enlistment can be extended, also you are required to 8 years of service, if you sign up for 4 active you do 4 inactive reserve and if you do 6 you do 2 years inavtive reserve. Its been known that people have been called up when they have been out of active duty for a couple years. I think this is primarlity becuase clinton did such a crappy job with the military. I also think bush is doing a hell of a job especially following clinton, to be honest I don't think gore could have done what bush has done given what happen on Sep, 11th 2001. People complain way to much about how the goverment is and they don't try to do anything about it. Any way thats my .2 cents, and joining the military has been the best decision ive ever made.
