War in general isnt good for economies imo. Its what happens after war that is good for them. Consumer confidence increases, goodwill between the enemies of the invaded country increase, the new government can be influenced to a greater extent and that makes them a viable trading partner, spoils of war, reparations and reconstruction debts help offset the cost of going to war in the first place.
Politically, war always get the support of the blind patriot or one willing to turn a blind eye to one fact or another. Clinton didnt just lie about sex, he lied in court about it (right?). Within the current political views of any country, the image of a moral political leader is harder to sustain than how a country views itself. Any personal actions that can not be excused as something good for the state have more impact on how a leader is viewed.
Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.
And is it just me or is America really starting to look like 1984? Yes, of course it's not communist, but the tendencies are frighteningly similar- Newspeak, where words like "war" and other words are replaced by ambiguous euphemisims. The feeling of constant terror that the media propagates to keep people angry and keep fingers pointed outside of the governement. And of course the lies that never get called back upon- didn't Bush say in a speech last month that we WEREN'T expecting to find weapons of mass destructions?
There are a few of us over here in England which think we left it too long to find any weapons of mass destruction.
The reason I think this is coz, too much was said about us going in to get the weapons.
I don't think Saddam is that dumb just to leave his weapons of mass destruction laying around for us to find.
My thinking for why we went to war is, there is always a feeling that we all must fight.
It's just part of being human.
This may sound dumb to you but it was been a while since we had a war and Saddam just happend to be there at the right time and place for it to happen.
Plus, Bush needs to make it back up to USA for not being able to get Bin what's his face.
Since Bin what's his face hit the US, the people have been looking to Bush to do something about it and then had to take the heat off him and put onto someone else and that is when Saddam came in plus he had all that lovely oil which could make someone really rich and really cheap.
he didn't hide his "weapons of mass destruction" we found all of them... there were practically none... the government just made it up to get us to go to war on them.
denaly, yes of course i really did love that... i especially love how the entire country is going to vote for bush now in their ignorance for a second term... *grumble grumble crap ass bush* :firing: :asshole:
One again I find myself considering moving to Canada.
