Well, as I have commented on in the wonderful wonderful world of Serious Discussion there is the very interesting law called the Patriot Act.
Currently it doesn't completely remove all known rights from a person, although it does limit/remove a few.

Yet when compared to Pt. 2(which Bush still wants to pass) it is nothing.
Also Pt. 1 passed after the people were coerced into passing it.

So roughly Ashcroft and Bush are maintaining a certain degree of control over Congress. In fact, a few existing rules within the Patriot Act removes power from certain parts of the government and gives them over to other parts..like the Justice Department.

Now who's in control of the Justice Department? Attorney General Ashcroft.
Yes, the same guy who helped coerce Congress into passing the Patriot Act. He's getting MORE power.

And they still want Pt. 2 to be passed(which would remove any and all potential rights and give more power to Ashcroft).


Then we have another problem.
Currently certain areas of the United States are conducting the election votes in a different way..they're using computerized ballots in a sense.
However as is the case in all of the cases these balloting systems are highly flawed and easily hacked into, yet in almost all of the cases these warnings and facts are being ignored.

Ever hear of stuffing the ballot?


So pretty much all of the liberties, all of the basic rights and the very Democracy itself is under seige by those in charge. Instead of letting the people choose, we're going to allow "hackers"(read government officials) to change the votes to what they want. This will mean that they can keep Bush in power.

What's up next? Perhaps more coercion and blackmailing to get the Patriot Act's second part passed..?

I highly doubt that we are losing all of our right, if we are its only becuase these equal rights people that complain all the time. I figure if you can sue McDonalds for making the coffee to hot or suing fast food companie becuase they made you fat, your not losing your rights. Also why would ashcroft care if he had more power? If Bush isn't re-elected who goes with him? Ashcroft, knowing that why would ashcroft just give that kind of "power" to the democrats? or to any other party for that matter? The only reason we have to pass these kind of act and laws is becuase our imigration system is all messed up, people come in from canada, mexico, cuba, haiti, africa... all parts of the world, did you know that these people don't have to pay taxes for up to 10 years? So not only do they live off of the welfare system but they don't contribute back to it. We also spend milt-billions of dollars medicaly treating illegal aliens. These poeple run funding organizations for extremist's it gives the chance for sep 11th to happen all over again, i'm not saying Bush is perfect but hes doing alot better than gore, and sep didn't happen becuase bush was ignoring the signs he had been in office for less that what 8-9 months? If you want to blame n e one blame clinton becuase this country went down the whole while he was busy pleasing his intern.

But can you/will you Sue McDonalds, for say making the Coffee to hot ?
Haven't you heard of SLAPP suits ("Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation") - hence a lawsuit designed to try and 'reduce' your 'First Amendment Rights'.

well, as a country living off the title as democracy, we are and always have been a false democracy. to be a true democracy we would live in complete freedom from laws, police, all such events. inhumane things such as murder and rape would be justified by mere self pleasure seekers. even though this is free will at chance here, i believe the world would be a better place living as a true democracy. no leaders, no laws, none of the above. of course, guns make it hard to do so, for with the power of the almighty bullet a person with enough of a folowing could completely reek havoc and force a population into submission. thus, desputing the true democracy and causing the anarchy of government once again........

personal opinion, the world was better with swords and bows (arrows). dueling was a much better, more honorable system then drive by shootings, robery at gun point, and other such haighness (sp?) acts of free will. (evil)....

i also say, that if bush feels confident in giving so much power to one man, then maybe he is just aiming the gun at this guys head himself. anarchists worldwide will jump on this and if it comes to, they will take this man out. bush wil be next, and then it wont matter. congress will jump on the events at large and revoke the laws anyway.

Anyone (in the USA) see Law and Order Last night.. Was all about how the feds did the secret search of a guys home and took the murder weapon when they were done.. Then refused to hand it over to the DA's office because they didn't want anyone to know they did it...

Thats what the patriot act does... Gotta love it when they can wait till your not home, then search your house with a secret warrent issued by a secret judge from a secret court who decides without public knowledge that you 'might' be worth spending federal funds to have your house searched, your phones tapped, your computers bugged, mail read, your own personal tail.... All on the taxpayers dollars because YOU went to some play, theatre, coffeshop,ect. that happened to have a 'suspected' accompliss, to a known affiliate, of a terrorist sympathyser, having coffee at the next table, and you passed him a packet of sugar...

OH, and watch who you sell your old playstation to.. they are 'still' classified as dual use technology...

Fascism, not communism.
All communism's end up becoming fascism's due to a lack of limitations placed into the government's abilities.

That's why America's been doing so fine as a Democracy, up until now. We had checks and balances. Now they're being thrown out.

Eh I dont quite get that. I thought that Stalinist style communisim becomes facisim through greed and a embrace of state run corporatism.

Fascism is basically a dictatorship that does whatever it can to remain in power.
Communism is just the grouping of blah blah and blah. Without limitations a single person(the person in charge of the thing overall) can easily take over it all and turn it into a "Fascist State".

Actually, if something was set up along the lines of a Representative Democracy based around a Communist economy/society you'd see it working quite nicely, so long as said limitations/checks and balances were in place.
