What will it be like? Will the earth be a barren, hostile place, ravaged by storms as global warming increases? Will humanity have obliterated itself in a grand, final war? Or will the world simply become even more crowded then it already is?
Opinions? ... Time has no bearing... ...when the whiteout begins...

Not so much opinions as predictions and my magic 8-ball tells me to ask again later. Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

the world in 2101...
global warming...
i was listening to a talkback radio [possibly the most destructive of all radio programmes, but anyhow] they were talking about the validity of global warming. by this i mean the increasing temperature of the world and mainly about the greenhouse effect which seems to be blamed by pollution etc. but the question raised was how do we know that the greenhouse effect even exists? most people rang up and said that it was so irresponsible of the host to say that because numerous scientific studies have shown that it does indeed exist but the one of the 2 main points of the topic being raised was 1)we believed it because we were being told so every where we went, and so it had become an undisputed truth, and 2)people said that their town that they had been living in for 40+ years hadn't been so hot since.....date. and that was precisely the point. if global warming was happening because of our mistreatment of the earth, and we were having hotter summers therefore, why was it so hot way back then [the year they were comparing to]. like someone will say this summer was the hottest since 1898 - how does this prove global warming? doesn't it just show that sometimes the earth gets hot, and sometimes it gets cold? because that's what i would have thought. but i digress [a lot]
i think that the world will continue to become more polluted however, and that if there is indeed a war [each day it seems more likely] that most will die and those that don't will be very sick, poor etc except for the .001% that will be very rich. not that much different from today i guess.
i don't think the world will be more populated, probably about the same amount as today - what with all the mass killings that'll happen. we call it war and we call it patriotic.
hopefully people will have realised by then that life isn't about who is the prettiest or who has the fastest car, but about things that actually matter. have you seen my marbles?

The only thing I can hope for, among others,is peace on earth. Maybe, if people can stop being so greedy, and corrupt. Thing's will get worse before it get's better,of course. But that is a hope.
Now, what earth scientist's seem to believe is that the earth will continue to be mistreated by it's inhabitant's,and it will eventually be destroyed to the "barren vision". But, by then, colonization in space, as in ships, not other planet's will have been already taking place. Massive ship's, and the human body altered to withstand actal pro-longed life in space. But that's the cowards way out.Using the earth, reducing it to a wasteland, and abandoning it, to perhaps do it all over again on,and wreck another planet? Human Conflict will never be solved, until obvious error's are realized, and corrected the right way.

I'm willing to bet my life savings (Which consist of a toothbrush and five nickels) that no matter what happens to Earth. Wether i' global warming, nuclear appocolypse, arrmogeddon, or invasion of aliens, I'm damn sure that each indiviual will say "Well it aint MY fault."
Kinda like now. "Well it aint MY fault that El Nino hit us." "Well it aint MY fault that the cold war started." "Well it aint MY fault London got blitzkregged." "Well it aint MY fault that landfill of garbage is so huge." "Well it aint MY fault that the toilet got backed up."
No matter what, ask any indavidual in that time, and whatever befalls the planet will not be thatindaviduals fault. But they might blame it on humans. But that's different. I don't know what I am talkin about do I? No, no I don't. I told you so. Of course you did, I said Im sorry, didn't I? As a matter of fact you DIDN'T! Well it aint MY fault! If I said you had a great body, would you hold it against me?
Confidence is a set of brass knuckles, a chain, two nines, a sawed off, a base ball bat, and twenty friends to back you up.

The world a hundred years from now?
Hopefully dead. Perhaps it will be reborn. I'm not good at predicting things. It usually does the way no one expects it to go. Dufresne: "I'm a pacifist."

I think in 100 years the world will be hotter, have a greater population, and grass will have more rights than people. ________________________________

sure, but then you'll have profiling that favors kentucky bluegrass over crabgrass and astroturf... all the "rehabilitation" greenhouses will be full of grass gone bad and weed... virulent species will go through the "revolving" horticulture door and move on to infect grass sociretys whereever their chaff lands... ___Nick_the_Rogue___ To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. The world will be slightly different. Just think back a few years ago when people thought that we would be flying in space cars and stuff in 2000. All I have to say is don't have to great of expectations.

I thank you all, for your answers. Myself, I tend to agree with Tainted Soul. I believe the infotech revolution will roll out to the point where you will hook your toaster to the internet, and then, it will halt. But... Flying vehicles, mechanical men... I seriously doubt it.
And I honestly believe, within 100 years from now, not even everyone on earth will have access to streaming water. Perhaps a last war awaits. I cannot see ahead. ... Time has no bearing... ...when the whiteout begins...

i think public ed will have been obliterated, as will have welfare systems cept for those who are brave enough to stretch the population to anartica and they will be rewarded with great sums of money but then the penguins will take over and it will be like the penguin revolution. uhm yah, power to the black and white. i knew things should be that way. damn peguins are simple.
no honestly i think that we will have some sort of grand scale war within the next 60 years and will demolish at least a third of the population of europe and over half of the US and then agriculture will be the highest paying job next to computer viruses that cause nations and communities to lose large sums of food import. I think that there will become a different universal language. math will be a thing of the past for most except those who can afford books or we brave enough to break into libraries that were closed down by the corrupted gov'ts long ago. bottled water will be a luxury as will refrigerators.

In a hundred years?
I truly don't think that the earth will be around for another 100 years. I know it's been said before-- the world was supposed to have ended in 1000A.D. The world was supposed to have ended in 1900. The world was supposed to have ended in 2000.
They say that we live in the Information Age . . . and you know what? It's scary as hell-- look at what we're doing?! We're reducing human life to cells in jars. Our humanity has been so downgraded by science and their 'Information' that I don't think that the Higher Powers will let it continue for much longer . . .
Take one look at us-- we've been given the most unimaginably perfect gift one could have been given . . . we have LIFE. We were given a BEAUTIFUL planet. It was and IS breathtaking. What do we do with it? We analyse it and destroy it . . .
I think we're destroying ourselves along with it . . . To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. I fucked Vincent Price
