itz that time again.....

i ask you....what is a "virgin?"

there's some interesting definitions in the dictionary:

virgin is someone who's never had sex....especially women.....someone who hasn't been explored and exploited by human(s)

now sex is defined as sexual intercourse which is thereby defined as "an act carried out for reproduction or pleasure, especially the acts between man and woman, the act of coitus".....

coitus is defined as the penis penetrating the vagina

so it would seem, by these definitions, that the only people who lose virginity are heterosexuals who engage in standard penis penetrating vagina....

but can we dismiss that homosexuals (gays and lesbians) who engage in pleasure as still virgins?

more so....think of this......now, if a man and woman are together, both their first time in any kind of sexual interaction.....now, say they have oral sex.......are they still virgins? it would seem so....

but, what about lesbians? they have oral sex....are they still virgins?

same goes for hand jobs and fingerings.....

lesbians again....if two lesbians finger each other....are they still virgins?

what about gays? they have oral sex....are they virgins?

what about anal sex? it would seem two guys who interact in anal sex aren't virgins....but does the same go for heterosexuals? if a guy has anal sex with a chick, is he still a virgin? is she?

now....some might say that "getting off" with a partner is the act of losing one's virginity.....but, what about all those countless women who have never had an orgasm......or a man as well, say a gay man who has anal sex.....are they still a virgin because they don't/haven't gotten off, despite being penetrated?

also....what about raped/molested victims....are they virgins or no?

When I was raped/molested I refused to believe that that guy took my virginity, and I still feel that way.

so what do you consider actually losing your virginity then? when you voluntarily had sex with a person? is the term "virgin" in anyway effected when the act of voluntary sex is felt with love or no? what i mean is....say you were drunk and voluntarily had sex with some random guy as opposed to having sex with someone you might love and have dated for a good amount of time prior.....

But I mean, why wouldnt they not be virgins? Its a state of mind, the idea of being pure and untouched...

ah....the forever "itz in the eye of the beholder" response....yeah, if you think you're a virgin, you are....if not, you aren't.......i don't necessarily buy that argument, but who am i to dismiss it y'know.....

i remember arguing about this years ago with my roomies.....and it was interesting to see what they said....one said homosexuals are virgins, as the whole idea pertaining to sex is the act of reproduction...and regardless if it is for pleasure, the whole essence of sex is the conjoining of the penis and vagina......of all the species, humans, aside from dolphins and a few spieces of apes, have sex for pleasure....but regardless, humans are the only species to have other kinds of sex "oral, anal, hand job, etc.".....although, it is interesting to note that some species of apes do practice "foreplay" and the females will sometimes lick the males penis.....but, i don't necessarily buy this argument either, but i think it is interesting....

Speaking personally, a person's virginity is lost once they have had intercourse with another person. Whether it be consentual or not, in my opinion, it is still sex.

I do understand, though, why Crimsonnyte feels the way she does. I was molested, myself. Luckily it never went as far as rape, but it still fucked me up emotionally. I tend to look at intercourse and the loss of virginity in a more scientific manner than an emotional issue, though..

how do you define intercourse though? cuz, you could say itz the act of coitus....but that again leaves about the homosexual issue...especially since les-be-friends ain't got no penis....cuz remember kiddies, "boys got a hanger, girls got a banger"

this one's a toughy I divided the term "sexual intercourse" and "intercourse" is defined as "dealings or communications between persons or groups". So altogether the term 'sexual intercourse' is dealings or communications between persons or groups in a sexual nature. So... Yes? Oral sex, handjobs, anal sex and the like, all manifestations of sexual dealings, should relieve one of the term "virgin".

The whole concept of virginity is still extremely important in some cultures, in a physical sense, unlike America. The rampant acts of rape in Bosnia of Muslim women by the Serbs was a calculated act. Marrying a virgin is a very important concept to them. A "spoiled" woman is considered unmarriable by their culture, so it was a concentrated effort to wipe them out as a whole.

Here in America, and probably other parts of the Western world, the concept isn't as important as the freedom to give of yourself as you see fit, to the right person at the right time. Personal control of one's sexuality takes precedence over the concept of virginity.

ok sex is sex no matter what... wether you have it between a man and a women, women to women, men to men and it all resembles sex..... but with homosexuals involved with sex... they are not concidered a virgin unless if you use some penetration.... once when you use penetration and popped a cheery. then hell you lost your virginity. and you can lose your virginity without having sex.... like you could lose it while ridding a bike, horseback riding, or shoving a tampon up in your crotch hole.......... one doesn't have to have sex when losing virginity....

well, technically they do....as the general definition of sexual interaction must involve at least one other person.....

anything else can be construed as a means of masturbation......

however, if you'd like to proclaim that one loses their virginity when one loses their innocence....then yes, it would be feasible to argue that one will lose their virginity after an act of masturbation, or even attempted masturbation....

however, as in the general definition of sexual intercourse/interaction......two people must be involved......so, you shoving a "tampon in your crotch hole" as you so eloquently put it, wouldn't necessarily proclaim you as losing your virginity....that is, unless someone else was to do it for you....then, thatz debateable....
