| What came first.. Chicken or the Egg? -
05-29-02
I've been thinking about this for some time... And came up with this:
If you believe in a god creating animals, then the chicken came first.
But if you dont, it would be the egg. Let me explain. If creatures evolved, and evovled, and one day evolved into the first chicken, well, then, obviously, that FIRST chicken out of had to come from an egg, laid by the creature that was not yet a chicken, but with its DNA, birthed the first. - http://the_jade_tiger.tripod.com/main.html
- The cold, the snow, the midnight winter solstice. These things I have in my soul. And I have learned use them... become them.
- Birth. Become. Evolve. Destroy. Yourself. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Yeah.Thats what I came up with too.:p Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

but then your saying that its not a chicken egg (which is the egg in question) but a PROTO-chicken egg that spawned a chicken... doesnt that negate that? ___Nick_the_Rogue___ To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

it's gotta be the egg... cause where else would the chicken come from? prolly, the chicken was a DNA "defect" of a lizard, or bird or something and they laid the egg... soon after, this new thing comes out... and it goes and it makes more... and more... and more...
so the egg definately came first but we'll never know for sure

Your veiw is very interesting Lost_Journey...its like..is the glass half empty or half full..depending if you are cynical or not depends on your answer.
But my view on the chicken or the egg is simply...the egg...never was it said that it was a chicken egg....
...but then again the more you think about it..is the egg the offspring of a creature that came before or after the chicken came into existence...basically its all about personalities and perspectives... “The night has a thousand eyes, and the day but one….Yet the light of the bright world dies…with the dying sun. Chickens came out of a genetic engineering laboratory. Some people wanted eggs, and the biotech firms created the biofactories for them... ... Time has no bearing... ...when the whiteout begins...

so the egg definately came first but we'll never know for sure | this doesnt sound right... its a perversion of the riddle. i somehow doubt that the framers of the question were asking "which came first? the chicken or the lizard egg" or "the chicken or the quail egg?" or "the chicken or any egg"... because fo course ANY egg could have come before a chicken and probably did...
the question (to me) clearly implies a chicken and a chicken egg... ___Nick_the_Rogue___ To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

1. We weren't made by some almighty dingledorf who is scowling right now at me for typing this out.
2. If you ask the question: What came first, the chicken or the egg, then it was the egg, because, simply, the egg itself was nothing more then a thing used by creatures even before chicken's existed, therefore the egg came first.
3. If you ask the question: What came first, the chicken or the chicken egg, then another question must be asked:
What makes an egg a chicken egg?
To answer that, I would like to think for a moment.
..
..
..
Okay.. enough thinking. If in fact you want to know what makes a chicken egg a chicken egg, then there are two possible answers.
3a) The egg itself contains an undeveloped chicken.
If this is the case, and we think about what came first, the chicken or the chicken egg, then the chicken egg would win out, except if you're talking about if it is a chicken, no matter what stage of life it is at, so long as it is a chicken and not something like sperm. Then the answer would be a chicken, since you can't have a chicken egg without a chicken to be in.
3b) A chicken lays the egg.
If that is the case, then the chicken comes first, since how can a chicken egg exist if there are no chickens to lay one?
booooorrreeeed
any more questions? :p (\ /)

it was never stated that it was a chicken egg. besides aren't we talking about creation here and how the chicken possibly began? so thinking that it may have evolved isn't a perversion is it?

Evolution.. that big mysterious thing which makes no sense..
What causes a thing to evolve? Pressure supposedly, pressure upon a being, which in turn generates a new mechanism with which to relieve most of that pressure.
How does it know when to evolve though? Well, that would mean there is some form of action occuring on a level that we can't even see yet, something that we don't even know exists, some sort of DNA within DNA within DNA.... I don't know..
But in the end.. evolution is a perversion, since it is a mutation from the normal strain of beings which exist that it generated from.
God I'm bored.. (\ /)

God I'm bored.. | The idea of Evolution is simple to understand. Evolution is change. It is when you get into the theory of Evolution, that things become more complicated. Like all theories, it is constantly being altered to incorporate new information.
It is not a perversion. It is the way of all things. Change.

I'm talking about the racial definition of Evolution, unlike the real definition which is, roughly, change.
Yet that definition itself was probably NOT the original, for why would we need a long word (evolution) versus a short word (change), but rather I believe that evolution was actually how it is normally refered to, the racial changes that occur within a species, which in turn result in new additions to their normal body.
jeez.. forgot I was doing this.. wonder if this'll post. (\ /)

jeez.. forgot I was doing this.. wonder if this'll post. | Aye, i get you. I must say, i am constantly amazed how many people disagree with Evolutionary Theory. Makes me think that Scientists should explain it better.

agreed. evolution makes more sense that most religions. evolution is a theory that makes much sense. i get all of you umm... (sorry my brain is REALLY fried right now) i think they used the term "evolution" for the simple fact to differenciate racial changes from any other changes, like atmosphere, geology, etc. those have their terms too, but i'm not too keen on that science... i mainly deal with biology and not too much into those branches of earth science.
