The simplicity of the question...made the answers quick:p
But time travel does present some very interesting debate and discussion...it started today over chinese and a question...
If you could go back in history and change anything, what would it be? that of course led to....
What the consequences would be and how would that affect the entire time line?
Then there is the whole other plane of existance concept...if you change it in this plane, what about another...this has amazing potential..

i'd go back to the beginning of the time of humans, where the rule of one organism finished and the humans rule began. i'd want to see what we were like then, and then i'd like to travel through different time periods like the egyptians and romans, to see the advances made. but i wouldn't want to be in a human form, just watching without people knowing im there.

This is an interesting question.
If given one choice I would want to go WAY back in time before there were any humans. Then I would finally not be distracted and given a chance to write at my hearts content. Then when I die, humans will appear, read all my awe inspiring text, and make me a God! Well, maybe they won't go that far.
But if I was given two choices, I would first go back to the orginal days of the 1970's where Hip Hop was first created. Then I would record all the songs I can, go to the future, and teach aliens how to rap. And then, seeing as how I am so much better at old school anything, they will make me there God! Or they will slap me in face and feed me to another giant alien.
Or maybe I'll just go back to that one day where I decided that jumping off the roof of my house was healthy for me. Just to do it over again.

In general, it seems like it would be safer to go into the future. Because the truth is that if you were to even change the tiniest thing about the past, you could drastically change the present and the future. Have you seen "Back to the Future" or "It's a Wonderful Life" ? Well, I must say that their portrayal of fucking with time is grossly understated. Enough said, I think
