There are a lot of generalizations automatically inferred by this. There are a lot of complex egos that clash as well. And there are ridiculously ignorant perspectives at the same time (but that's always debatable, right?)

In any case, I'm curious to know how people around here view themselves and their perceptions...

Shooting a list off the top of my head, there's..

political
historical (both classical and cultural)
philosophical
economical
anthropological
sociological
emotional

I know there's more and feel free to add...

What I'm after is discussion of various forms of analysis, how we feel AND think about them, what's biased, what's moral/ethical, what's cold and cruel, which forms tickle your personal AND our collective fancy and all the other
good stuff that is implied here.

POLITICAL:

um, anarchy, tru anarchy (not the punk symbol and shit) is ideal.....small communities, that are almost like a utopia, working together for a common goal, would be ideal....but it'll never happen..

thus, i think socialism is quite possibly the best for of government....but as untied states is a democracy, i work with that.....i personally am a democrat, though i'm actually more liberal....but since the liberal party will never reach the highest office (not in my lifetime at least) i side with what can.......democrats....

as for war and all that.....i agree with war, but for the right reasons......for example, i have nothing against this war (is it still raging on?) simply because i don't give a fuck about sand-people, but to mask with this righteous intent is wrong....call it what it is: DESERT STORM TWO: JUNIOR'S REVENGE! (Let's kill some towel-heads USA!)

i also think it would be ideal for the strongest powers to unite and go on a hell-bent world domination kick......only then will the world be one step closer to peace......or destruction......in which case, anarchy might ensue....yay!

i'm an absurdist....believing in the metaphysical, using said theories to provide justifications that anything and everything is absurd, and possible.....(except non-existence)

i also believe that the metaphysical is infinite, the physical is finite......hence, the metaphysical has always existed, possibly giving way to the big-bang, where the physical came into play......

i believe emotions are very important, and i personally hope to one day achieve a break through with an emotional philosophy.....i think emotions get overlooked in that profession......i think emotions are that which connect the metaphysical with the physical (in a sense)....one can feel an emotion physically and metaphysically......i can feel when my heart is sad....is that solely physical? i don't think so......

p.s. anthropological views would be cultural views. understanding a perspective from a certain cultural view and the realities shaped therein..

Alright not really, there's no clear political distinction for me (nor should we have political parties in my oppinion, they've caused a serious shift of power away from the voting populous). I believe in socialized medicine, the disolution of big pharmaceutical companies, gay civil unions, and i'm pro-choice. I do not agree with having our troops in Iraq (they have other battles they should be fighting...), welfare, the government taking more and more liberties with us and abusing their power....

I'm about to get a degree in English. I find all of my history in the subtext of literature.

I'm currently in the middle of studying paradoxes and "Modern" philosophy (read: after 1900).

I'm stuck on "All A's are B's = All non-B's are non-A's"

In debt up to my fucking ears. College is expensive damnit. I come from a middle class (maybe upper middle in some cultures) family and unfortunately I've never really learned to keep track of my funds. (I'm working on that one)

I'm currently working a minimum wage job because it's easy (I'm a receptionist at my school...a monkey with a computer and a phone could do my job), it looks better on a resume than waiting tables, and I can actually do my homework here.

I'm probably going back to waiting tables i'm sure.

I love to people watch, and I've become particularly addicted to watching the interactions between people in text. (Thanks Darkforum!) I think as a general rule people get worked up over really tiny retarded things. I've seen friendships blown over glitter (no pun intended).

Right now I'm a fucking basketcase because I'm on my period, trying to quit smoking, on welbutrin to quit smoking which is in turn giving me insomnia...yeah i'm a hormonal bitch. I've yelled at so many strangers as of late i'm starting to look like a schizophrenic bag lady from DC.

normally i'm pretty well ballanced, I try to see things from as many perspectives as possible, and I find myself sticking up for the little guy more often than not. I may not always agree but playing devil's advocate has become an interesting hobby.

Oh no, i've done analytic. in all honesty i completely understand all of this crap, it's just the higher level courses in this case are fucking annoying. I really don't give a crap about Zeno, or his theories, and I'm a little bit bitter we spent so long on it.

It just makes me mad that these classes just end up being mash togethers of the lower levels.

Zeno was one of Aristotle's students (or one of plato's, i can't remember which). His theories were all supporting his teacher's theories on motion and existance (there is no motion, everything is one, etc). and they were all originally taught in poem form so people would be more likely to remember them. uhg.

Thankfully we are off Zeno and onto Grue *sigh*

ew! yeah, i always hated classic philosophy....i fuckin' despise plato, socrates, aristotle (although, he was the best of them all, in my opinion).....i was more keen on pre-socratic philosophy myself....

I think our teacher was just using Zeno's theories as a warm up. This is the paradox class, with one of the meanest professors in the department. He doesn't make this shit easy.
