submissive personalities are happier! - 06-10-02

it's my opinion that this statement is correct because they have less to worry about. I'm not talking strictly in a bdsm scenario but in life generally....some call it passive, others weak, and i've even had people say i'm too nice, but when it comes down to it, when the milk spills those who need control tend to get aggitated and need to clean it up immediatly, and those who are more...relaxed, casually find a rag and wipe it up...they are more willing to let the train pass by and catch the next one rather than race to catch it a block down...I think if more people were able to sit and smell the flowers and watch the myriad of clouds and colors in the world and not try to control what they never will, the world would be a much happier place...

Passive is not equal to submissive... But agreed. A laid-back nature tends to be beneficial...

Laid back yes, submissive no.

I`m trying to curb my submissive personality leanings so I`m not used as a doormat by people I`m close to.

*sticks her tongue out at rogue* - 06-10-02

Fine! well if you are easy going, less will get you upset, if you're a little more concerned about keeping those around you happy, there's less to be concerned about yourself. Being nice gets you better results and if you are easily adaptable and obedient, people are more apt to reward you....it is true that you can be used as a doormat, but those who take advantage of that are not very...happy people...how can some one who needs to control everything be happy or ever achieve peace, they will never control everything, and rarely control anything...and yes it is a philosophy rogue, my philosophy...

Yin and Yang. Taoism stresses the Yin, the negative, the passive... By flowing with life and taking the natural course of things, rather than acting upon them, life is lived more easily. (Of course, I'm being entirely too non-Taoist by trying to pin it down with words, seeing as how the way cannot be defined, but oh well...)

I`m not bothered about wheater(sp?) or not they are happy people, fact is they will make you miserable.Control freaks wont be happy natch because they are not and never will be in the position of full control that they`d need to be content.

You know if I read the thread title and add "if you are female" I agree with it a little more.

I understood your philosophy, Dyn, with the first post. I'm the same way.

I tend to let little things go, without contest. I also tend to stop and consider things from the other persons point of view. Makes it really hard to get pissed about alot of things, if I can see it from both sides. So in general, things that really piss off my more... dominant (for want of a better word) friends, don't bother me at all.
