As long as your posts stands, and people sees them, you exist, if nothing else, in their minds. I sense an age old question here, if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? Basically the same thing, right?

I dont have to experiance something to know that it exists, I gave the example in Grimfrog about this that if everyone was dead or deaf then sound wouldnt cease to exist just never be experanced.

Good point. I still tend to get the feeling though, that the world stops moving once I'm not around...weird thoughts like that. I can get amazed by the fact that so many people out there lives their lives oblivious of my existance...

no. not self-absorbed. i think the same often enough. i sometimes wonder if things that i saw just a little while are still there, too, just because i can no longer see them. it's weird. most of the time i can take on faith that the world is where and as i left it, but sometimes, just sometimes, i wonder.................

Small children has problems with that. If something leaves their range of vision, it no longer exists to them. It takes the the first few months to realize their toys will stay where they left them...

a pity one can't apply that postulate to boyfriends really. lol

interesting point about the young children though. perhaps they know something we don't? they may have the right idea. though it would be rather frustrating as you wouldn't know how to find anything as you wouldn't believe that it was where you left it. that would suck.

Besides, how would that work in real life? As soon as you've left the kitchen and can't see it anymore, it ceases to exist. For it to be there, you have to go back in. But how do you enter a non-existant room..?

yes it would be very inconvenient. probably best that it's still there when we go back into it. otherwise it would be like a very bizarre version of neverending story with everything turning into nothingness.
