In turns about and..wait..no.

Let me start out by talking about how, when someone is without sleep for prolonged periods of time, they are often considered either susceptible to becoming insane or extremely tired.

I'm all for the latter, however I must ponder on the former and if it is indeed insanity or some ascenion(mentally speaking). I ask this, or rather state this..or perhaps ponder on this.....because of "vision quests" that some Indians would engage in.

They would be deprived of food and water and left out in the sun for a while, becoming fatigued and all that. Then they would have hallucinations that would be prophetic or informative.

However, after talking with a few people who are heavily insomniac they have told me that during their later periods of the night when they are nearly about to fall over they often feel extremely intelligent..albeit it a little slow on the uptake due to the fatigue.

So would it be possible for something within the mind to trigger, or perhaps go dormant, during a period of time wherein the body is without energy and exhausted...something which normally blocks our abilities to reach into the inner depths of our intellect?

i think that, as the human mind becomes more aware of itself it will find ways to open up. we humans dont realy notice our potential for brain capability. i am an insomniac, but i believe i see things that are not realy thier. i never realy feel intelligent in this state of mind. maybe because most insomniacs are loners, they can think they sound intelligent but make as much sence as a drunk in the el station rambling about gov't conspiracies. sure, he might get one or two right, but who will listen?

i am also an insomniac, but mine is more controlled then most cases, so things work out. But some nights i just set up for hours. while fatique of any sorts can cause hallucinations, the mind is barely running by that point. Most of our body is set upon regualted cycles of eating, shitting, and the biggest regulator, sleep. When sleep is lost, the mind is forced to try and deal with things directly. Thou it may take a while, the mind is doing it's absolute best casue long ago it shut off all the secondary functions that you keep trying to use. The thing thou i find with sleep deprecation is that your a babbeling idoit. nothing profound or cunning comes out. it's just kind of fun.

Insomnia is a result of the brain, not the conscienceness using the brain to stay awake, like sleep deprevation. Insomina has never fully inspired anything out of me, except for a recipie of fun pills to knock my ass out once. I've never noticed an upswing in intelligence from any of it. You guys just must be odd.

deep_dipshit, what are you talking about? those guys are just crazy. not insomniacs. If they were insomniacs, they would most likely be sleeping when your awake. and most insomniacs are not loners, just your sad ass. I live a perfectly healthy social life being an insomniac, it's just stressful sometimes.

Lol self is prone to live on mabye 3-5 hours sleep a night for most of the week and knows that self's sleep debet has never made self think better ..in fact self starts with the cant focus see's stuff thats not quite there and passes in and out of conciseness with eyes open ..information gets disstored and all kinds of juju ..
Hell Self has reguly played Street Fighter vs X-men etc. against self's bro..only to passout in mid combat ??( bro claimes He can tell cause self stops fighting ..and yea self has seen this too ITS FUNNY!!( cause sometimes self comes too and my bro is just taking light pot shots as self's dude just stands there lol ) ) then suddenly self will start attacking like nothing happended !!

Crap like this happens at work too Call center rep ....pass out in mid sentence or while typeing come to with info lines like ..customer would likeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeee....lol never been busted yet? not even by the ppl im talking with ...
Or more common self thinks self is doing something other than what self IS DOING ..like the time in tech support ..self was trouble shooting a modem and going through control pannel then caught myself talking the cust through Option menues on how to get level selects on a video game ..lol
Smarter not self ..but self can seemed very stoned when on lack o sleep lol ..laugh at all kinds of stupid things ..

Well I tried to sleep a little while ago. But I couldn't get my self to go to sleep. But then I also start to see shit that isn't really there to begin with. But it is very stressfull to go with out any sleep. Know I just take sleeping pills to knock my self out and sometimes the sleeping pills don't work oftenly. I'm insomniac as well. I can't seem to fucking sit still and i'm moving around alot. That happens to me to when I can't sleep. Also when I go to sleep and i'll be getting heavily into my sleep. I always wake up all panicky like and I don't know why. I took some sleeping pills right know and if they don't work fuck it. I'll be up till the crack of dawn and right know it's 2:53am

man.....you all are fuckered up.....i'm glad i can sleep, in fact maybe too much.....for example, i never go to my 10:30 class on tuesday or thursdays cuz i'm so damn tired.....if i get even under 7-8 hrs of sleep, i'm dead......

oh, and there have been days where i pulled like a 48 hr party and shit like that......a few times, after pulling a late nighter, when i start to fal asleep (you know, the point right between sleeping and being awake) i always hear a woman's voice, the same woman's voice....have no idea who she is, she doesn't really say much, except like my name and shit, but it creeped me out the first few times.....i understand that itz most likely my head playing tricks on me cuz i'm so tired and in that sleep/wake state, but why won't she go away?!

As for the sleep depravation...

I've been on some drugs, or just really drunk, where I was in a better frame of mind than when I was without sleep.

I went 3 days without sleep before Travis (Vlad) one day decided that we should go visit Bexie (Yes, our beloved Bexie from this forum). So me and my friend (Whom was also 3 days with no sleep) were to drive the 10-11 hours to her house, and Travis was to do whatever cause he had no license. That drive was fuckin' insane. Shit was jumping out at us (We dubbed them 'Shadow Men') that wasn't really there, and shit was just in general going insane. I "awoke" from a semi-sleep and saw a car flipping in the air. Thankfully I wasn't driving cause that freaked me out. Then, when I was driving, I once again "woke up" and saw a street sign following us down the road. It stalked us for like a half mile before I out ran it. The rest of the drive there I don't really remember.

So we get to Bexie's, and me and the friend end up sleeping on her bed for like two hours. Well, that did nothing for us other than make us further tired and desire sleep. So, now we turn around and start to head home.

I honestly can only recall about 15 minutes of that drive. Most of those are during the time when we stopped and considered sleeping on the side of the road. I don't recall any conversation (Although there was some) or what was on the stereo (But I did change Cd's like 20 times). It was truly out there.

So I can believe that insanity is linked to a lack of sleep. I imagine insanity being somewhat like that. A general lack of awareness, no sense of surroundings, and no real comprehension of what you're doing.

But holy hell, that was a fun drive. Lmao.

Well ever since I have been getting my self to do some exercise. The kind of exercise I do is walk. I only walk for 2 miles everyday and rest on the weekend. But ever since I have been exercising. I've been able to get some sleep. I still see crap that isn't there every know and then when i'm tired and i'm tired right know that i'm making a reply to this thread. But i'm also wide awake. Maybe because i'm smoking. Smoking can also keep you up and hyper. With smoking you can never rest as well as you may like to.

After 72 hrs. without sleep I begin to see dæmons hanging from the wall, ceilings and crawling along the floor. But any time I've gone without sleeping regularly I see the "Shadow People" that Tainted mentioned. I once heard a radio program(Art Bell) about them, and it turns out that some people see them without sleep depravation. Some believe them to be aleins while others claim they are spirits.

Don't know how far I've gotten off topic, but I think most of that is relevent.

Yea man, the shadow people are awesome. As for being aliens/demons and shit, I guess I could buy that (I'm easily convinced, lol), but I dunno. Thats insane. Lmao.

HAHAHA! Dude you know what I think I have a ghost that stays by my door. For some reason I keep on thinking that I would see a person walking into my room. While the door is closed by the way. Last time I was cleaning my room and I was vacuming the carpet and I had Van Halen cranked up on my sterio. I turned off the vacume cleaner because I thought a parent was coming into my room to yell at me and tell me to turn down my music. While I did that there was no one there. But I could have swarn I thought I heard somebody walking into my room and yelling at me. Like I said I was tired at the time. I still have a feeling that something is by my door right know even though I can't see anybody. But I know someone that is a shadow happens to be by my door. I'm thinking about going to sleep hehe.

I can beat that one...

Its about 3am and me and my mom are still up watching TV. Now, the way we were facing, we could see down the hall way...let me see if I can diagram this (I've smoked tonight, and had a few drinks...sorry).

Now, the 8 is us, the O the Tv, the L is my bedroom door, the I is the bathroom door, everything else is wall.

Now, I look down the hall randomly, and I just keep looking down there. Then some chick steps out of my room and walks halfway across the hall, then stops and looks at me. She's dressed in what I assume is a white wedding gown, and she has semi-long blonde hair, wicked blue eyes, blah blah. But I see her and I just get this overwhelming feeling of happiness. Doesn't matter how I felt before, its just like...BAM!, you're happy. Then she smiles, and walks across the rest of the hall way to the bathroom.

My theory is that she is my gaurdian angel for two reasons. 1, she is in all white (associated with holyness/protection), and 2, the overwhelming feeling of happiness. I've seen her three times, but all three times were in the wee hours and I'd not slept in a while.

I dunno, its insane shit.

Ok, that didn't post how I typed it...and I'm to lazy to care at the moment.

Don't worry about the typing dude. Even I can't type that well. But WindowedPained said I came a really long way with my typing and i'm doing much better with it as I did before. But with your story I find it to be interesting and what is weird I don't find it to be insane. I find it to be kind of relaxing in a way. So is this chick in the spirit world? It's nice to have someone watch over you like that in the spirit world. Very interesting.

Well, she is not in THIS world, which one she'd be in outside of that, I'm sure. Perhaps purgatory, perhaps spiritual/etheral, maybe some other one I'm not aware of.

What do you think it means if your gardian angel dresses in all blacks and red velevts? At points in my life when things got dangerous, I've always seen a man wearing period clothing(watchmens cloak, black silk shirt, black pantaloons, red velvet vest, black knee high boots, and a top hat with a red hat band.) show up and soon after things always got better.
