ok i dont know if there s already been a thread about this because i never come in here. but i m having to do research and write a paper about science vs. the bible concerning the origins of man (which should be interesting) and i just want to know you guys opinion over the subject.

Well creationists theorize that we were here from 30,000 years ago to present day....
Science has proven that we were here long before then... possibly 100,000+ Years.... though it could be twice to ten times that number... I would postulate that we have been around for 300,000 to 400,000 years by evidence from the Sumerian Culture...
So Creationists are wrong... though evolutionists may not be all that right either in our case at least...

I want to go with evolution, I just can't figure what the catalyst was that would have started the ball rolling. The bible is a little far fetched even with my fantastic thoughts...If God made us in his image, why are people so different, if we all came from Adam and Eve...? well that arguements been used many times. So once I find the catalyst, it will be evolution.

It should be noted that you are looking for answers about the Theory of evolution, not plain old evolution. Evolution has been proven and creationists accept it, although they argue these changes do not bring animals out of their "created kinds".
The theory of Evolution starts with a one celled life form which leads to everything else.

I don't see why the Bible and evolution necessarily have to be exclusive. The creation myth in the Bible was a way for people with no hard science to explain their origins. If the biblical God did create the world, why do seven of his days need to be equal to seven of our 24 hour days? Why couldn't he have created through evolution?

As far as the origins of man go, the Bible is full of contradictions and holes in the story. Adam and Eve had Caine and Abel. Later when Caine is a grown man he marries a woman from another group of people. So where did they come from?

The idea that there are people who take everything they read in the Bible as literal truth just reinforces my opinion that there are too many blithering idiots on the planet breeding.
