Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.
By the way, it wasn't an apple...for the time and region it would have been an orange or pomegranate eaten in the garden of Eden.
I don't think Misogynistics aggressive attitude towards women has been from problems with past girlfriends but stem from a deeper, freudian maternal bent, either that, or he's gay and in denial.
As far as women/men go....to me they should be interlocking, like yin/yang. We both have incredible and very differrent gifts with which, until we appreciate and learn how best to work together, we will always struggle. In my experience men have a great ability to narrow things down to a science. Women have the equally great ability to multi task and see how these sciences can be used for the good of the species. Women often have the inbuilt survival of the species as priority, no doubt bought forth as the life givers.
Huge subject. Could go on for hours...rant, rant, rant..just like a woman!

Originally posted by RedMeat We`ve just gone from one better and one worse to both the same in most every field imaginable without even thinking about it.I`m afriad that men and women do act differently on the whole, a few exceptions but they wont damage the view too badly.
I read a small article about observing childrens behavour a while back and the englightened minds said that girls and boys act differently. Truely amazing to see how far we`ve progressed.
Could you possibly post that article? I've seen numerous other studies which show differences in the way adults treat infants they believe to be male or female.... The cultural conditionin of gender is very strong and in most cases begins at birth.... I have yet to see asny definitive evidence that the psychological differences between the genders are anything but cultural.
also, males and females are do not have equal opportunities today.... most men don't see the gender bias because they don't have to live with it

Try reading The Apartheid of Sex by Martine Rothblatt and Gender Shock..... They show how fuzzy the lines between the genders are very well, and how much damage pressing all humans into gender roles regardless of their personalities and interests does....
Relationships can be physically homosexual and psychologically hetero, physically hetero and pyschologically homo, depending on the psychology of the people involved.... Psychological gender does not necessarily match physical gender, and the fact that many people can fit into both gender roles or neither complicates the issue more.....

(CONFUCIAN CLASSIC FOR GIRLS)
Cannot be right surely Confucious didn't speak english so how did he manage to construct this rhyme?
There have indeed been studies where babies were dressed in pink or blue clothes to show how differentlt babies were treated on what sex ppl thought they were..the babies wearing blue wether girl or boy were treated far less delicately different tones were used etc... i'll try and root out the study.
I don't think this debate will ever get anywhere considering degree level psychologists and biological behaviourists still can't agree over wether nature or nurture has a greater effect.

You`re right, they never have to live with being apart from their kids or anything.
I cant find the one in question since its been such a long time but this one was a good read: http://www.angryharry.com/tgWheretheBoysAre.htm
I think its a case of chicken and the egg and that for the most part the role becomes before the treatment. There are enough chemical differences in the brain to explain the difference.
They even cause gender in the first place as shown by removing the cells that produce testerone in male mice, they appear and act more stereotypicaly feminate for their species. The same thing happens with humans as from birth (inceased at puberty) testerone is produced: http://www.moonlighthealth.com/library2.asp?A=36
Quote:
Male infants undergo a "testosterone surge" during the first few months of life, when testosterone levels maybe as high as those of an adult male. During this period, the infant is programmed to express male characteristics after puberty, not only in the development of his sexual organs and other masculine physical traits, but also in setting patterns in the brain characteristic of male behavior. In monkeys, deficiency of male hormones impairs the development of spatial perception-normally more acute in men than in women-of learning ability and of visual discrimination tasks, such as would be required for reading. It goes without saying that future patterns of sexual orientation may also be influenced by the early hormonal environment.
or http://www.genderweb.org/general/whycant.phtml for some info too even though I hate left-right brain crap.
There`s another one somewhere about a boy that had to have his gender changed at birth for some medical reason I forget. The put him through hell through their psychological studies until he was told what happened and that he was basicly living a lie.He asked to be changed back straight away.
