I work for a book store and we have a pathetic philosophy section. I and a few other co-workers are trying to spice it up. Get some more "interesting" works. I was wondering if any of you have favorite books or essays or philosophers or philosophies or whatever.
And please...no Philosophy of the Ringmaster: Lord of the Rings type of shit either. I find that shit rather insulting.

The Meaning of Truth by William James

Pretty much anything by Friedrich Nietzsche . . .
i don't know if there are even any books on the subject but i remember studying a guide called anaximander and being fascinated by his work. it's all a blur now but i might just go google the name. old fellow if i recall...
Anaximander...Pre-Socratic Philosophy. Good stuff...one of my favorite topics. Philosophy Before Socrates is a book I have, and a book on the list for the store I work at.
Anywho...people complain that we have too much Eastern Philosophy, and all we have are the big names (Nietzshce, Hume, Sartre, Locke, etc. etc. etc. etc.) But we'll just have to play it by ear. Thanks though.

I have a friend who runs a christian bookshop in Leeds, England. Not the Kent leeds, but the other one. His name is Thomas kala and has a bookshop on Richmond road. His latest book is called Meditations of life. It is very philosophical about life and how we can control the universe around us and how we are the centre of it etc.
Any English folk, get your hooves over to Leeds and purchase a copy. YOu will not be dissapointed.
