People are stupid,given proper motivation,almost anyone will believe almost anything.Because people are stupid,they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true,or because they are afraid it might be true.People's heads are full of knowledge,facts,beliefs and most of it is false,yet they think it all true.

I was getting ready to post a thread on peoples simplicity, but disagree with your reasons. So I will make a reply to you, and then state in my opinion why I fell stupidity should be the word of the day...I disagree with your reasons that people are stupid because they want to believe...I am a believer and am anything but stupid. People need to believe so that they can face the world...ancient people found it easier to explain a thunderstorm as angry gods rather than hot air colliding with cold air, they weren't stupid, just not aware of science. People need to believe in "god" to enlighten their lives. To believe there is a reason for all the heartache and pain makes it easier to deal with. To believe living a good life to improve your karma, not only helps you feel better for yourself, but helps other's feel better about themselves.(doing good deeds)These are just a few examples of why I feel that belief is not stupid, but a necessary survival instinct.
In my opinion people are stupid, because not many care to seek enlightenment. They would rather inconvenience someone else to do it for them, rather than making the effort themselves...the classic tale of the grasshopper and ants...it's easier for these "stupid" people to ride on backs and stay in their unenlightened little worlds, than to actually reach out and find their own life...people that devoutly go to church, they are sheep(a stupid animal)they sit there, live their lives by a book written by man's hand, do what a priest, pastor or minister tell them, drop some money in a bowl and pass it on and never question why. Christians are just an easy example, but there are many others of people showing how stupid they really can be...it's just a state where they refuse or just don't know how to think for themselves and don't want to pursue any knowledge to change their state of "stupidity" they refuse to open their minds...to me that is why "most" people are stupid...

Yet I'm not going to blame or be angry at them; because they need their little, narrow worlds to be safe in; the smaller the world, the less dangerous it is. Which is why man, when faced with a huge, empty sky over their heads, they are encouraged to fill it up with something; ie Gods.

I believe in gods, but not to fill "an empty sky" but to fill my life with beauty and magick, faith that there is something greater than I, and it's a pleasant thought to me that there are more fantastic beigns out there...with powers that can help or hinder us...I guess when it comes down to it I am more apt to believe and have more faith in other worlds, than our own...who would you rather talk to...a god or a sheep?

If you would look toward the thread I crafted you would quickly find that your attempt at saying that everyone is stupid is quite incorrect, due mainly to the fact that no one has thus far responded that they believed what I had written.

As for the genetic make-up thing,that too is incorrect. Only someone who is of mental instability (the mentally handicapped) will prove "stupid", but in the end they can become smarter then someone not mentally handicapped, depending on the amount of time spent on teaching them, as well as if they approach teaching the person correctly (there are multiple ways to teach people)

Surprisingly enough, there are a higher percentage of people out there that are very intelligent. Stupid people are just very noticable because they present themselves in a very loud and belligerent way. It is not stupid to believe without evidence; it is however stupid to believe in something when evidence to the contrary has been produced.

Everyone is stupid sometimes. Don't tell me you've never been wrong or done something stupid. As for believing everything..I'm NOT naiave. I don't assume either..though I can make theories & consider (but don't always conclude) possibilities. Learning never stops. I do my research, get feedback, get facts (& separate it from opinions, including what people have said from experience), & put in my 2 cents. btw stupidity is NOT genetic..anyone can learn from their mistakes, or those of others.

You seem like a person who refuses to listen to anyone. That's a limited way to think. Correct me if I'm wrong. You don't have to agree with everyone, but some people have good ideas. E.g.
