When we contemplate the unimaginable vastness of the universe, the incredible diversity and complexity of life on Earth, the sheer tenacity of life to survive, the wonderful beauty of nature, we are filled with a sense of amazement. !3,000,000,000 years or so in the making, and here we are, wondering why.

In this unbelievable universe, with its 100 billion galaxies, each containing 100's of billions of stars, we inhabit a small world circling one ordinary star. One star amongst 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.

And we wonder why.

We consider the processes that followed the Big Bang. how the universe cooled down as it expanded, how matter formed out of radiation, how gravity shaped star formation and galaxies, how stars created heavier elements, how those elements formed planets, and how life developed on at least one of those planets.

And we wonder why.

We study the emergence of life on Earth, how asteroid impacts, volcanoes, earthquakes, floods, fire, droughts, disease, starvation, ice ages, all threaten to extinguish that life. But it survives.

And we wonder why.

Why are we here? What is the purpose of it all?

Is there a purpose? or do we just.. exist?

existence is reason enough, don't you think?

This is why we ask why ...
As a mere human we test our selfs and our abilitys and our boundrys ( this looks funky? oh well ??)
Thus as being a part of eveything yet unbale in mind and form to understand all that we are we ask why ,why,why... just like the little kids we are ...
why are we here ( Too many answers ) One possibility is that we exisit in this here and now as a step to understand a physical aspect of our being and the ways of a matterial form in the universe ?
Thus the curve of oyr understandings and knowlege at this point ..ETC.
If you need to do someting complicated in our enviroment we useualy (sp) build a TOOL ..
This human body is just one of our TOOLS ( as everyone knows ,,the simple body glove thieg etc.)
So as you use your tool ( heh heh ) everyday lol thats too funny !! damm lost self's train of thought ..

Fuck, I always wonder why, haven't stopped since I was a kid. A couple of times I think I've drifted closer then, bang, the dark door of unanswered questions slams in my face. It is interesting that man seems the only creature to ask why? and maybe that is what the question should be. Why do we ask why?

Are you so sure? Humans seem to think we have so many things cornered, but we are really no different after all than the rest of the animals. Why do we think that only we think of certain things? Because animals can't talk. Ever think that they think the same thing? Look at your dog/cat/pot-bellied elephant and wonder what it would be like to have the ability to communicate to everyone but the hairless freaks who feed you. Animals do communicate, we just don't understand it. They talk, just not in english or any other human language. Some can be trained to communicate with humans, and through them we see that animals do think. But how can a some basic sign language learned by a chimp convey deep thought on the nature of existence? And do we really want that to be possible? Makes it difficult to feel like the superior being when the lower critters cough up the same trite questions.

An ant doesn't have time to contemplate the universe. I've never had a dog that stared off at the stars. Maybe animals do have it more together then we do because they don't think as 'big'. Easier to be happy, content, just to exist. Do they ask why? I don't think so or we would see signs of their searching for answers.

Animals ...well ya know as far as self can tell they are on a different mission than that of us humans so most of their life styles are envirometaly set ( untill we mess them up Heh heh heh ..)

And whose point of view are you seeing it from if not your own? And how can nothing be really important when we don't know what nothing is? There is no nothing. The same philosophy would apply if you changed your quote to. "In the instant that you understand that in life 'everything' is really important, then you can DO and you can ACCEPT everything." What makes your opinion any less subjective then others? It is a mind creation, isn't it?

It is your way to be free. Many need a deity to offload their burdens on. If you believe that nothing is important why would you want to 'do' anything or change anything? What is there to accomplish? Wouldn't it be a justification to 'not' think?
