Off-topic, I know, but I expect a better response to this question than in the "Summer Movies" forum:
In the Matrix we have the city of Zion, which contains an awakened humanity, realizing that they are a united race against the enemy which threatens their right to determine the course of their own existence. What we have is a group that should be united as one species bent on their continued survival.
So why is it that there are no pairings outside of ethnic barriers? White guys with white girls and black guys with black girls, no exceptions, thank you, please drive through. It's all fine and dandy that the film delves so deeply into the philosophical and theological, but to still stick the film with such racial barriers seems to be a discredit to the overall intelligence of the movie. I realize that post is kind of bulky, i want to sum it up: Ignorance of other caves (read: realities) does not make them cease to exist. Likewise, belief in them does not cause them to exist.
| What was that theory or experiment...was it Schrodinger?
He put a cat in a chamber along with a capsule that contained some sort of fatal gas and left the cat inside. The idea is that the state of the cat can not be determined until the door is opened and the cat seen either alive or dead...
So unless you have other information, the state of the cat, as far as you can perceive, is in "limbo," so to speak. Neither alive nor dead as far as you know, until you can open the chamber and see what has become of the cat.
Pay attention to this, or don't, that remark just made me think of this. Hey, bread is a good time for me...a-woodle-oo-doo, singing bread is a good time for EVERYbody...

I am very familiar of that experiment. But our ignorance of its true state does not alter its state. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

But what IS its state? You can not know...
In fact, the very existance of the cat within that chamber is unknown until you see it.
Isn't that Schrodinger's Cat or something along those lines? Hey, bread is a good time for me...a-woodle-oo-doo, singing bread is a good time for EVERYbody...

are they ever really OUT of the matrix? we've already established that The One and Zion are just another form of control... ___Nick_the_Rogue___ To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Not another form of control but what I think the Architect meant, was that is was entirely predictable, so there was no need to control it until it reached a certain point where it would no longer be predictable. In other words the odds are getting less that an outcome can be predicted? I didn't think there were any odds to chaos?
Maybe Neo can now influence the machines because the Matrixs' 'unreality' is indeed part of 'reality' and he has found the window linking the two?
Anybody seen the movie 'Powder'? Brilliant. The philosophy being that we are all just energy and connected. Maybe Neo is about to prove it.
Our reality is a skin of the onion....no, more a building block of the universe(symbolising the bigger picture). We have place and influence. As a small cell in your body can mutate and cause the death of its universe so to can one person cause positive or negitive effect and change the whole environment.
We can control our environment and therefore control our realities. Learn as if you were going to live forever. Live as if you were going to die tomorrow. --Mahatma Gandhi

Probably because I don't notice colour that much. I didn't see any cultural segregation.
I did notice that Trinity and Neo always had ripped clothes that looked like they'd been dragged through the gutter but no-one else did.
Arhh, just thought, maybe Trinity is the answer??? The three figureheads represented. The Father ( the dude above the architect), The Son (Neo), The Ghost (?).....I really hope the final movie isn't a big cop-out. Learn as if you were going to live forever. Did anyone notice that in the first movie that they took all the bodyplugs out of neo, yet in the nookie scene you can still see them all? Have you not learned from the corpses of your bretheren?

As a single being we have choices. We do not have free will as we are self regulated by the constraints of society..law and order. We can escape these rules (Hitler did)..but on a larger scale as a group 'Humanity' must follow the limitations of life..we need food, reproduction and respiration etc and these will remain our motivational forces.
Do we then seek the purpose of: Our selves, Our social group, our whole society, our species, of all life or of everything that exists? Your purpose as an individual may be more or less meaningful for its inclusion in the whole...
Are we cogs in a machine or are we independant agents? Independance suggests we make our own purpose the former would suggest we were given a set purpose by whatever controls life.
I know which one I go for...I am seperate from my species unless I make a choice to become a part of it...my natural instincts such as the need for friendship and interaction push me towards becoming a 'cog' who's purpose amongst other things would be to breed and keep the machine whirring.
If I choose a life apart from society (difficult at best) I would coexist with humanity but would exist as a seperate entity..except that I need other forms of life to live..so I am still under control by simple forces of survival.
There is no escaping from the matrix of life. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
