The reason, I believe, that "civilized" Humanity will wipe itself out is that for the past 10,000 years, we have been acting like we are the enemies of Nature. Nature always wins.

agreed altho I don't think nature will destroy us, we will destroy ourselves. Nature tends to balance things not destroy them.

The laws of nature will destroy us for living in violation of them for so damn long.

Well, the problem is that there is a strong sense of no choice in our world. America is a choiceless democracy. We must choose between slacks or khakis, but we are imprisoned for choosing nudity. We must choose between a career as a white-collar worker or a blue-collar slave, but we are shunned and go starving for choosing a life of artistry. We are forced to choose a way to destroy the world, and kept ignorant of the chance to save it.
