why are you growling, why do you think we are the dominant species? because we are healthy and strong enough because we eat a good balance of foods with all the nutrients we need...simple animals eat either or and both are easily destroyed by us...are you a solid meat eater?

well it's really not their fault they are slow but they are just a simple animal...we have mental capacity that sets us in the position of higher lifeforms...they are also prey...what eats us, but our own? Without the necessary nutrients that plants provide than we die, look at what happened with sailors before they realised this importance...they ate dried meats and fresh water, they died...
Native americans drank pine needle tea...why, because in the winter time when all they had to eat were dried meats they know the importance of vitamins for health...and I think it was you who earlier said all chemicals are designed from nature...with no plants we would not have many of the "modern" scientific medicines, nothing to keep us from the elements, we'd still be living in caves with our teeth falling out and dying of malnutrition

Parrots in thier natural environment are given the choice of consuming avacados and chocolate beans and yet they do not as either or would kill them..... though if you change it from its natural state.... chocolate or avacados that is.... they cannot recognize it and will eat it.... remember never feed the pretty bird chocolate chip cookies or avacado dip on a chip.... they will die....
Plants are plants and regardless of thier soul or lack there of we would still consume them.... as will all the other creatures upon the Earth including plants themselves....

I believe plants are good. I do, indeed, recognize the important role they play. I don't want to rate their importance. I just want to talk about interaction between the soul and the physical. Most people believe the human soul has something to do with the human brain. But here I have a collection of people who unanimously agree (by that I mean the recent participators in this thread) that plants have a soul. Well this is an interesting subject because this would prove that a soul can exist without a central nervous system. Thereby proving that a humans soul can truly "pass-on" to the next existance. It would also prove the existance of ghosts, in a way. So my interest is peaked, and I'm ready to have an in-depth discussion about that. That's why I growled, cause I was being mis-understood and the topic was degrading into general socializing...
By Soul do you mean the energy we have within our bodies or the religious ideaological idea of a soul as the seat of self awareness and consciousness??????

It all depends on what you view a soul as being, if it is just energy with a conscience than a plant can have a soul, it has been scientifically proven that they do emit energy, scientist have not yet decided what that energy is, but it's there...
I am rather biased in such discussions because I do firmly believe in souls being able to exist outside of a mortal body...they can be ghosts, spooks, or even a chill in the air, animals, flora or fauna...anything that is considered to be of the earth can have a "soul" it's just a matter if it's physical body they are inhabiting has the mental capacity or not...

The carnivorous plants that you described that were capable of consuming small insects can only perform such a task due to many small hairlike fibers attatched to their tendrils. Once an insect happens to land on such a plant to feed or rest to clear itself or whatnot, the fibers shift and the plant obviously senses this and as a result traps the insect and consumes it. So i wouldn't find it too hard to believe that plants are capable of experiencing pain.
