i actually just thought i'd contribute to the thread again.
i tend to think of 'infinite' = 'indefinite'. i know strictly this isn't perfectly true, but i think they have a lot more in common than anyone gives them credit for. the roots are practically identical, and neither one can ever be verified (to verify something which is indefinite is to make it definite, so you can never know anything indefinite).
i think it does depend on our perceptions more than anything. i can say that between my ears there is about... crap... well, between 4 and 8 inches (really bad at guessing distances here) of space (definite, finite) or say that there are infinitely many points of space or an indefinite number of arbitrarily small regions of space between my ears. for me, infinite -> indefinite because points in space and time don't exist, only regions, hence no matter how you slice it there's never really an infinite number, unless the space itself is infinite, which you can't ever know for certain (all you can know is that it is indefinite).
