the universe is truly infinite, is anything truly forbidden?




If the universe is truly infinite, is anything truly impossible?




To me these are two very separate questions, but I'd be interested to know if and why anyone doesn't as well as their thoughts on the questions themselves.

Are there finite amounts of love and hate/good and evil in the world?



If so, do you think that these amounts are equal?

How does pure conscious mind measure time? Could a second not seem but be an eternity?

only within the physical sense and the logical sense, i would say.....for example: it is impossible to have a circle with 4 corners......it is impossible for such a thing as a nonexistence to exist....



this is an interesting question.....but, i would think that it can only be measured to the farthest extent it has reached.....i don't quite no how to answer this one...

i think that this one is limited to what logical and physical laws itz being applied to.....for example, in our galaxy, we have millseconds, seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, and so on and so on.......itz how we understand the nature of physical things in relation to aging and what not.....but in another galaxy, who knows......a second to us could be a year to them.....so sure......but, i dunno....again, another tricky question

I always have to ask myself, what is natural and just is in this world and then what has mankind and society created...

um....oh yeah, i think anything that has some physical justification or logic to it, although man's idea/creation to understand said logic, has some truth to it in the natural sense......for example, disproving empirical realities.......the sun isn't just some orange circle in the sky........but, everything is man's creation......i believe that there are two types of existence.....metaphysical and physical.....now, i can ask you, what is the moon? and you can tell me the moon is this big, and the moon is said to weigh this much, and is this far from earth, and contains these elements, and reflects sun light, and yaddah, yaddah, yaddah.....but what you can't tell me, is EXACTLY what the moon is......the essence of the moon is unknown (essence being the metaphysical here).......itz much like, you'll never EXACTLY know me, and i'll never EXACTLY know you......

so, even though man has created much for the understanding of the universe, some of it holds some truth........

Yes, anything is possible in an infinite universe.
Love and hate are limitless emotions. However, both constantly fluctuate. I believe love wins out in the overall stakes but the gap is closing.
Is time relevant to 'pure conscious mind'? I don't think it is. Those who measure time expect something from it, be it $ or actions; to a purely conscious mind there are no limitations to each second of awareness. Total awareness is necessary to the 'now' not to the past or future.
I haven't read 'The Jaunt'. Is it an old or new story of his?

That's a big 'If'. Judging by what we see, it's not that infinite; about 13.7 billion light-years out, you come up against the cosmic background (the energy created by the big bang).

As far as time, we know the universe had a beginning. It's possible that it will expand forever, or it could collapse back in on itself...possibly to be reborn.....

How do you know the big bang wasn't just the beginning of 'our' universe?

um....that made no sense? i mean...the big bang created the universe.....what else could it have created?

i wish i still had my physics notes from astronomy class, but this always stuck with me...i don't remember the actual name, as it is a scientist name, but it starts with a P....sumtin like Paluk...or sumtin....anyway, itz a theory that after the big bang happened, there's this period of time, known as the Paluk time before any kind of physical particle existed....so you had big bang, then this period of time, then physical existence.....so, what existed between the big bang and that first physical particle? is it something metaphysical? i wonder.....

i was under the impression that the universe is every existence existing....you can only have one universe, but multiple galaxies, multiple dimensions, multiple worlds, multiple realities......how can you have multiple universes?! that doesn't make sense.....there's only one universe.....

Thanks Edge. It depends on how big you can imagine Sic. As the link says it's metaphysics really. Why can't there be another universe? You speak of multiple dimensions and galaxies and worlds; to me, that leads up to other universes. Our universe could be just a layer, like skin. We are the dermis, another universe is the epidermis, and so on.

ok, but that which would encompass all that, would be, as it seems, the UNIVERSE......what you're saying is sumtin like this--and if i may attempt a crude imaginative scale--Circle A is Universe A...Circle B is Universe B...Circle C is Universe C.....but, to me, if you draw a bigger cirlce encompassing all those circles--call it Circle X--then Circle X is truly the only Universe.....and all these tiny circles are just parts of it......

to speak more scientifically....scientists say we are all part of a galaxy, but there's millions and millions of galaxies.....and all of it is part of the universe......

Okay, I totally knew where you were coming from....but......If the big bang was the beginning of THE universe then there must be an end. Right? If there is a beginning and end then there must be the possibility of another universe. I believe the definition for the word 'universe' has changed. It should read, universe-anything of which we have scientific proof. Or when they speak of the 'big bang' they should specify by saying, 'the big-bang is the theory associated with the beginning of 'our region' of the universe.'

there's only a beginning and end if you look at the linear perspective of time and space.....if you look at the circular perspective, then no...there isn't any beginning and any end......

but i've had a few ideas of my own pertaining to the "edge" of the universe......it seems to me, that it might be possible (as attempts here on Earth have been trying to prove) that if you were to reach absolute zero, then all particles and waves and all that shit as we know it stops.....so, if you were to take like a star at the farthest end of a galaxy, and go beyond that.....is it possible that you could reach absolute zero? thus, the end of the universe?

Sounds plausible. The thing is you can't reach absolute zero. We wouldn't be able to existin that kind of environment. If there is an area where absolute zero exists, or we are in an area where it doesn't, then your theory of the edge makes a lot of sense.
